The Master Teacher said:

KJV: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.- Matthew 6:33

Strive for the inner kingdom of God where faith, hope, and love prevail and the outer things we tend to fret about, our physical and material concerns, will be provided as we need them—like God provides for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field

KJV: And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matthew 17:20

There is more than one way to use tools

Horse plough

Techniques for harvesting crops had
remained virtually unchanged for hundreds
of years until the Victorian age.

the old way

Farmer using a scythe to harvest hay

Battle Axe

The scythe of 'death'

Positive co-creation is a spiritual tool used for the good of everyone to have what they 'need'.

A tool such as this, meant to help everyone achieve what they 'need' can also be used to get what you 'want' to your overall detriment.

Things (stuff) does not give you joy, happiness, or spiritual peace and harmony. No matter how much you 'have', it does not satisfy the soul.

Here is the true problem with the Book  "The Secret"

The Secret takes a different approach from What the Bleep? and Down the
Rabbit Hole
, with its emphasis on the material impact of the
law of attraction
in our lives, as opposed to the
spiritual and healing implications. The film has been
criticized by some for ignoring the
spiritual implications of the law of attraction

in favour of a materialistic approach -

Although that’s not necessarily a bad thing, since it makes the ideas in the film both more succinct and more
intriguing to those who may not have explored this kind of concept before. It’s a great introduction to the
law of attraction for those who are new to self-affirmation and the idea that our thoughts create our lives.
People more experienced with these ideas may find The Secret doesn’t have as much of intellectual value
to offer; though it’s equally good as a refresher and a reminder of our infinite potential.

Teachers of the Law of Attraction

The film "The Secret" identifies specific historical figures and contemporary individuals as purported teachers of the "Law of Attraction."

Current Secret Teachers

The film interviews "Secret teachers" (professionals and authors) in the fields of quantum physics, psychology , metaphysics, theology, philosophy, finance, feng shui, medicine, and personal development, with some of these individuals, at their websites, promoting the film and their connection to it. A few of these individuals do not speak of this "Law of Attraction" in their interviews, and evidence that these individuals are teachers of the "law" or agree with it is not provided in the film or at the film's website.

The Secret teachers interviewed in the film, and then later featured on prominent american TV shows, are: John Assaraf, Rev. Michael Beckwith, John Demartini, Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield, James Arthur Ray, Joe Vitale, and Lisa Nichols. Others interviewed in the film include: Lee Brower, Marie Diamond, Mike Dooley, Bob Doyle, Hale Dwoskin, Cathy Goodman, Morris E. Goodman, John Gray, John Hagelin, Bill Harris, Esther Hicks, Ben Johnson, Loral Langemeier, David Schirmer, Marci Shimoff, Denis Waitley, Neale Donald Walsch, and Fred Alan Wolf.

Past Secret Teachers

The film also includes quotes by historical figures with Rhonda Byrne, the producer, stating in a voice-over in the film, "I can't believe all the people who knew this; they were the greatest people in history", claiming they are "past secret teachers". The people mentioned include Aristotle, W. Clement Stone, Plato, Isaac Newton, Martin Luther King, Carl Jung, Victor Hugo, Henry Ford, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Robert Collier, Winston Churchill, Andrew Carnegie, Joseph Campbell, Alexander Graham Bell, Ludvig Van Beethoven, Charles Fillmore, Wallace D. Wattles, Thomas Troward, and Charles F. Haanel. Although the book and the movie include quotes from these individuals that are not inconsistent with the principles set forth in The Secret, neither the book nor the movie offers conclusive evidence that these individuals were aware of all of those principles, nor that they agreed with them or applied them to their lives.

In the above paragraphs, many of these teachers of the "secret" apply positive and spiritual guides to using this tool.  To leave out the spiritual guides leads one to disharmony, greed, and an insiduous downward spiritual to death of the soul.

The Rosicrucians tell us what the secret is

The secret is knowledge. Not knowledge in the sense of acquiring information but an inner knowledge of your own potential to achieve wisdom, strength, compassion, and peace.

Rosicrucians call this Mastery of Life. It embraces all aspects of who you are and all you can be - physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. It is a relationship and understanding of the divine laws of the universe. The Mastery of Life is not difficult to grasp, but the secret of the Rosicrucian tradition has been protected and preserved for thousands of years, shown only to those who have proven a true desire to know.
The Rosicrucian teachings are not the thoughts of a single leader or group, and is not a religion or dogma. In fact we incorporate many philosophies. We believe education and understanding of all cultures and beliefs are a key to tolerance. Our philosophies have gained the attention of some of the greatest minds through the ages. Our tradition is based on Rosicrucian teachings that reach back to the mystery schools of ancient Egypt and Europe. Yet they are not frozen. They have evolved and are always evolving.

A review of the DVD in comparing it to "What the Bleep" says:

The Secret has a lot of overlap with the book Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks, which I just read last week.  In fact, it’s one of the most amazing books I’ve ever read, and it’s deservedly among the top 100 books on Amazon right now.  Ask and It Is Given is a channeled book, similar to Barbara Marciniak’s Bringers of the Dawn in some ways, but Ask and It Is Given is much more down-to-earth and practical.  In order to write it, Esther channeled a group of non-physical beings collectively referred to as Abraham.  I saw Esther/Abraham speak in person earlier this month at the I Can Do It! seminar, and I was completely dazzled.  I think Abraham is spot on, and I’ve been doing a lot to apply these ideas more fully in my own life.  I’ve already reported some positive preliminary results.

Speakers in the movie included Jack Canfield, Joe Vitale, Fred Alan Wolf (also in What the Bleep), John Demartini, and Denis Waitley.  Jack Canfield’s stories were my favorites because he comes across as very genuine, and his results with the Law of Attraction are truly remarkable.

This web page came from a dream in 1999:

8-8-99 - VISION - This was like a lucid dream. I knew I had experienced this before in dreams, and I was supposed to teach this to other people. I saw this 3 or 4 times both times. I also knew this was Jewish.

This was a set of 16 boxes . . . 4 across and  4 high. I saw them in a concrete/stone color, and in black and white. The sizes of the boxes were all the same when complete . . . rectangular, however the 4th one was adjustable and in 2 parts. One part of the 4th section was very small when presented to us and it was up to each individual how far over within the rectangular to expand it. I had pulled it all the way over to the other side myself. That was the best.  However, each individual had to make that choice for himself and that what I was to teach them.

It is best to pull the second section all the way to the right.

The Law of Attraction. This is the basic law of all manifestation, the Love Aspect, and it governs the Soul aspect. One of the Three Major Laws, and it has 11 subsidiary laws. Fundamentally, this law describes the compelling force of attraction that holds our solar system to the Sirian. It holds our planets revolving around our central unit, the sun. It holds the lesser systems of atomic and molecular matter circulating around a center in the planet, and that of the subtle bodies co-ordinated around their microcosmic center. It is the primary law of man. The law of synthesis is beginning to be felt.

The Law of Attraction -- You attract to yourself that which you put the energy of your thoughts into. If you desire something, you can attract it to you by positively anticipating its arrival into your life. Alternately, you can attract that which you do not want into your life by giving negative energy to your thoughts of receiving it.

The Secret Doctrine

By H. P. Blavatsky

Blavatsky's masterwork on theosophy, covering cosmic, planetary, and human evolution, as well as science, religion, and mythology. Based on the Stanzas of Dzyan, with corroborating testimony from over 1,200 sources.

The Secret was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show broadcast across the United States on Thursday February 8th, 2007. That special show was dedicated entirely to The Secret.

[Editors note: Knowing how Oprah thinks and dedicates her life to helping others, one has to wonder if she read 'The Secret' book all the way to the end.]

Rhonda says she stumbled on what she calls The Secret at the end of 2004. At the time, everything in Rhonda's life had fallen apart—physically, emotionally and financially—and she was in "total despair." Then her father died suddenly, and she was worried about her grief-stricken mother. "I wept and wept and wept, and I didn't want my daughter to see me sobbing," Rhonda says.

That's when Rhonda's daughter gave her a copy of The Science of Getting Rich, a book written in 1910 by Wallace D. Wattles. "Something inside of me had me turn the pages one by one, and I can still remember my tears hitting the pages as I was reading it," Rhonda says. "It gave me a glimpse of The Secret. It was like a flame inside of my heart. And with every day since, it's just become a raging fire of wanting to share all of this with the world."

'The Secret' - Spiritual Cinema?
By Julian Walker

The Introduction

OK. So, I finally got around to watching the whole of this movie that has such buzz in the spiritual community. Yoga teachers are talking about it. My friend is at a massage school where the teacher's are suggesting that the class watch it together. Another friend is in a graduate course for Somatic Psychology where the professors think it is an important piece of spiritual cinema.

I held out for a while, but finally I thought I'd go and see what all the fuss was about.

Why have I held out you might ask? Two reasons. The first has just three words: What The Bleep.

Perhaps you've heard of it? It's that popular spiritual movie funded by the female cult leader who claims to channel a 3,500 year old warrior king from Lemuria (little old red flag for ya there..) and produced by her (his?) students. This film takes bad interpretations of quantum physics, puts them alongside junk science claims of water and it's ability to retain the "energy of thoughts" and then drives towards all sorts of misguided spiritual and psychological conclusions that leave it's audience more confused and ignorant about spirituality, science and the relationship between the two than when they first sat down.presumably scratching their heads and saying "what the bleep?"

My second reason, you innocently ask?

Well, that's a little more complicated and has to do with my having been around the spiritual community my entire adult life and being perennially surprised, amused and infuriated with what people call "spiritual" and with the naivete, superficiality and gullibility of most "spiritual" people, as well as the basically banal nature of the material that gets recycled and marketed to it's willing consumers year after year.

'The Secret' takes the cake though.

Let's begin at the beginning:

The Drama

The movie starts with a dramatization. A sexy/disheveled aging blonde Australian lady is clearly having a rough time - her father has died, her relationships are a mess, she has worked herself to exhaustion. Then she opens her suitcase and sees a book. A post-it note on the cover says "Mom, this will help. xxox"

Whatever could it be?

It turns out (the montage tells us) that she is holding in her hands a glimpse of the ancient secret that has been passed down through secret societies along the ages, that people have persecuted and killed for, the knowledge that the power elite have used to keep the masses oppressed and that was known by everyone from Emerson to Shakespeare to Plato to Lincoln to Hugo to Newton to Beethoven! No hint as to how her daughter or son happened to slide this precious information into her suitcase

In her mind's eye we see Romans and Egyptians, Templar Knights, priests, scheming white cigar-smoking men in boardrooms, all passing the secret document back and forth, chasing it, hiding it - presumably until one of them passed it off on the troubled Australian lady's child?

Finally, in a breathless climactic moment, she is lying on her bed, head flung back, - a tight shot of her face, eyes closed, lips glossy as she earnestly and not a little seductively asks, "Why doesn't anyone know this?"

After another exhausting rapid research project, our short-lived Australian heroine has found those among us who know the secret today and leaves us now in their able hands.

Pretty exciting, huh?

What could the ancient secret knowledge be? So mysterious. So powerful.  Who are these modern teachers of the ancient mystery, the wise ones who are the contemporary bearers of the secret knowledge?

The Masters of 'The Secret'

The set combines beautiful backdrops with state-of-the-art computer graphics, and each speaker has their name in both typeset font and signature form at the bottom of the screen, along with a title that, we assume, qualifies them to be speaking. Their titles range from "philosopher" to "author" to "quantum physicist" to "writer" to "visionary" to "entrepreneur" to my personal favorite - "feng shui consultant."

Only one of the "writer/authors" is well known and has his book "Chicken Soup for the Soul" included in the computer graphic backdrop behind him. One can only assume that none of the others actually have published anything - nonetheless they are writers or authors who are in on "The Secret."

One of the speakers with the title "philosopher" appears by the letters after his name to be a chiropractor with a degree in science. OK

But while their titles and qualifications may vary, on one thing they are all resolutely in agreement, and this is the ancient secret, shrouded in mystery, repressed, hidden, revered by the best minds of history, finally available and delivered by this coalition of the brilliant and the brave. Are you ready?

The Secret

'Your thoughts determine your experience.' Shocking, isn't it?

That's right, you create your own reality. I know, I know it's complicated and deep, but we have decoded the golden thread of all the secret ancient wisdom traditions and the knowledge that made Emerson, Shakespeare, Newton et al such great men, and this is it!

The movie goes on to suggest, through well-made video dramatizations and repetitive rhetoric that "the Law of Attraction" is at work all the time responding to your thoughts and your feelings, serving up from the universe whatever you are putting out there. For example:

That parking ticket, those bills and piling up debt, your cancer, gay people who are harassed by homophobes, lonely folks who can't get a date and so on all of these are without exception manifestations of bad thoughts.

If you are focusing on not wanting to be late as you drive to work - guess what, you will be!

If you think about your bike being stolen and are extra careful to lock it up tight - it'll be stolen. But if you visualize that rock-star parking in front of the store you need to go to - it will be there!

If you focus on how stressed out you are about your credit card bills - guess what, you'll only create more debt!

If you spend time thinking about your cancer it will be more likely to kill you and even better, if you just focus on good things, watch funny movies and feel good after your diagnosis, it could take just three months to completely destroy the tumor - hey it did for this lady

then there's the little boy dying of a rare form of hepatitis. Full recovery because his family ordered up some extra special "gratitude rocks" from one of our "writers"

What's more all of this has been proven by science.

Cool, huh?  Not really.

The Problems

The film uses authoritative names, meaningless titles/qualifications, very badly constructed arguments, category errors, logical fallacies, scientific seeming images that then never go anywhere to strengthen it's points, and examples/case histories that are anecdotal at best.

The matter-of-fact "scientific proof" is alluded to by various graphics, impressive looking images of experimental scenarios, and vague verbal references, but never really appears.

What you may ask could be wrong with a hopeful, inspiring film that empowers people to use their minds?

Well how about the little boy who focuses hard enough on the bicycle so that he gets it? Or the young woman who gazes with just the right combination of longing and belief through the jewelry store window until a man magically appears to give it to her? How about that woman who cured her breast cancer by laughing? Or the little boy in South Africa who magically recovered from near fatal rare hepatitis because his father had gratitude rocks from California delivered to the door? How about Jack Canfield implying that he made a million dollars on his first book because he used the Law of Attraction i.e. he thought about it a lot? How about the assertion that by protesting, say, the war in Iraq, you only perpetuate it by giving it your focus?

We see a "case history" of a young gay man who is depressed, picked on, constantly humiliated by homophobic co-workers and street thugs. No more once he applies the secret. Done.

In fact the audience at a comedy club cheers his proclamation of being "such an incredibly gay man" Nice! He is happy and everyone magically either accepts and supports his homosexuality or, - get this - transfers out of his office - so strong is his intention!

You see the makers of The Secret want us to believe that if your mental focus is strong enough and the intentional "joy" in your being is brimming over enough, everything will happen as you want it too. That's the highest spiritual truth and the secret to life.

We see scenes from a brutally dysfunctional relationship. Shoving, yelling, faces contorted in anger and hurt. The solution? Write down what you appreciate about your abusive partner and watch them transform before your eyes to match the energy you are magnetizing them with!

They assure us that the reason a tiny percentage of the world's population has so much of the wealth is because they know this secret.

Never mind social conditions. Never mind racism, homophobia, colonialism, world history, psychology, trauma, and real-world economics. Everyone, absolutely everyone could be wealthy, happy and in love if they just knew how to use the Law of Attraction. Um, what does that mean for people who are not happy, wealthy or in the perfect relationship? Well, for lesson number two - see lesson number one. You're just not doing it right, silly.

Of course we never hear about the implied (and clearly flimsy) connection to the list of historical luminaries. You should have seen Shakespeare park that horse exactly where he wanted to on opening night. Beethoven - died in the black. Deaf, but solvent - right? Newton - never got sick.

Friends, this is not a recipe for anything but a frontal lobotomy. This is not high spiritual truth passed down through the ages, it's narcissistic delusion, bordering on the psychotic, plugged into the akashic records by a tinfoil hat.

It is a complete abdication of depth in favor of a supremely superficial analysis of life.

It is a marvelous example of everything wrong with the new age movement and is so insulting of the true nature of suffering, so ignorant of the realities of privilege and oppression, so authoritative in it's endorsement magical thinking and judgment of those who are not doing it right as to set any nascent spiritual development and self-awareness back a good 5 to 10 years.

So what is the real secret?

An Intelligent Path

Well there are really three broad areas that need attention, and this movie beautifully illustrates why:

1) Critical Thinking

Gotta have it. Without it spirituality is filled with the unicorns of childhood fantasy and the poison kool-aid of manipulation and dishonesty. In order to have critical thinking one needs healthy rational development. Educating the mind by studying actual philosophy, psychology, literature and art that grapples with the universal spiritual themes that great minds have been expressing since at least the Greeks.

A healthy dose of critical thinking will cut through the kind of nonsense these kinds of popular spiritual vehicles are selling. It will also allow one to side step the very real suffering and delusion that comes from buying into very, very poor interpretations of spiritual reality like these.

Rest assured, if The Secret and What The Bleep sound like deep truth to you, there is either a complete lack of critical thinking, or you have become convinced of the fallacious spiritual argument which says that critical thinking is the enemy of spirituality. Not so. Critical thinking is the enemy of false spirituality. It is the trusted ally of authentic adult spirituality. Use it!

2) Your Shadow is your Friend

Contrary to superficial and fragmenting prescriptions like those offered by What the Bleep and The Secret, the instruction here is to actually work with your shadow material and learn from it.

Your so called "negative emotions" have value and meaning. They are communications from your psyche. Be curious about them. Compassionate. Follow a path of inquiry into what lies beneath the surface of your reactions, fears, anger-triggers, unsatisfied feelings, sadness etc. The way to be free of these is to embrace them and listen to what they might be telling you about your shadow - the part of you that you have disowned and disconnected from.

Working with and ultimately integrating shadow material through a process that takes you beneath the surface into the actual meaning that your triggers have for you is the way toward ending self-sabotage, not just trying desperately to impose a junta of "good thoughts" on your mind from the outside in

3) Spiritual Practice

Spiritual practice is absolutely distinct from spiritual beliefs or ideas.

Spiritual ideas might give you a map of the territory in preparation for and in analyzing the experience of spiritual practice.

Spiritual beliefs are usually best left alone as they tend to hinder authentic inquiry which is at the heart of spiritual practice.

Spiritual practices actually require that you do the work, that you sit down and meditate. Start a yoga practice, journal, dance your demons and shake your Buddha. That you be present to your emotions, your body, your mental patterns and learn the art of self-observation, introspection and that most harrowing of skills - honest communication.

Spiritual practice requires that you turn to face your shadow. That you get real about your social conditioning, your political situation, the distinction between what you have power over and what has power over you.

Spiritual practice is inspiring, but it's also deeply humbling. It does not tell you that you can have anything, be anything do anything, without limit.

Sorry. That's the kind of fantasy high the Secret promises - and the hangover is a real drag.

But real practice does give you tools and resources to deal with the inevitable disasters, disappointments and struggles that make up every human life.

And this is perhaps what is most problematic about the ideas promoted by movies like The Secret. Most likely the audience is looking for some real tools. Looking for some real practices, techniques and resources to help make sense of life and it's complexities, to help them to grow and feel supported. Yet what these ideas offer is a short lived illusory hope that fades to reveal only one area of deepening - that of denial, fragmentation and self-judgment.

The Ethical Problem

Not too much searching online reveals that the movie is part of an elaborate advertising campaign to get people interested in working with the various "teachers" it features. Just like What the Bleep is a recruitment vehicle for Ramtha's School of Enlightenment, The Secret is an infomercial for its talking heads. On a purely business level, it's brilliant. Too bad this is the last thing it's target audience actually needs.

1) The movie suggests something impossible.

2) Gullible and desperate people will try really hard to apply the law of attraction. They will have some success with it because intention has a certain amount of impact. They will have a lot of failure with it, because it is nonsense. I already know of a few people who are watching the movie obsessively to try and master it's bogus teachings.

3) The ones with money will buy the book, attend the events, and contact the teachers for help on perfecting their skills, which of course is, by definition impossible, so they will have a captive audience.

The dynamic described by the above three points is "The Secret" to these hucksters making a mint!

"Why do you think that 1 percent of the population earns around 96 percent of all the money that's being earned? Do you think that's an accident? It's designed that way. They understand something. They understand 'The Secret', and now you are being introduced to 'The Secret'. p. 6

[Editor's note:  Who designed this system?  The writer's God?  Greedy money grabbers whose interest in life is to have it all and keep everyone else on their knees and in poverty?

Also 95% of humanity is not capable of and could not 'think' or 'understand' what this book proposes, even if they could read, unfortunately because there aren't enough teachers in the world, mostly because people won't pay them enough to tolerate the conditions which they would have to face- even in America.

"Whether people have been told they have a slow thyroid, a slow metabolism, or their body size is hereditary, these are all disguises for thinking 'fat thoughts.' If you accept any of those conditions as applicable to you, and you believe it, it must become your experience, and you will continue to attract being overweight.  p 58

"Food cannot cause you to put on weight, unless you think it can.  p 59

"You most likely know of someone who is thin and eats like a horse, and they proudly declare, "I can eat whatever I want and I am always the perfect weight." And so the Genie of he Universe says, "Your wish is my command." p. 59

"Make it your intention to look for , admire, and inwardly praise people with your idea of perfect-weight bodies.  Seek them out as you admire them and feel the feelings of that - you are summoning it to you. If you see people who are overweight, do not observe hem, but immediately switch your mind to the picture of you in your perfect body and feel it. p 60

[Editor's note:  Of course these writers do not allow for disease and body weight to be inherited genetically- according to these writers, all disease and overweight is because people desired it or fought against it and that is what created it.]

It takes no time for the Universe to manifest what you want. Any time delay you experience is due to your delay in getting to the place of believing, knowing, and feeling that you already have it. It is you getting yourself on the frequency of what you want. When you are on that frequency, then what you want will appear. p. 63

[Editor's note:  The Universal energy force of creation can do these things, but to blame humanity for not being God and not being millionaires because they cannot attain that level of creation is going a little far.]

"Like Aladdin's Genie, the law of attraction grants our every command.  p 68

[Editor's note:  This is going a little far as well, though the law of attraction is true, it also takes effort and time to manifest what one desires.]

"When you want to change your circumstances, you must first change your thinking. Every time you look inside your mail expecting to see a bill, guess what - it'll be there.  Each day you go out dreading the bill!  You're never expecting anything great. You're thinking debt, you're expecting debt.  So debt must show up so you won't think you're crazy.  And every day you confirm your thought; Is debt going to be there?  Yes, debt's there. Is debt going to be there?  Yes, debt's there. I debt going to be there? Yes, debt's there. Why?  Because you expected debt to be there.  So it showed up, because the law of attraction is always being obedient to your thoughts. Do yourself a favor - expect a check!  p 72

[Editors note:  If you don't want debt, you don't create it in the first place by buying things you can't afford and your desires are bigger than your pocketbook.]

"When I first understood 'The Secret', every day I would get a bunch of bills in the mail.  It thought, "Who do I turn this around?"  The law of attraction states that what you focus on you will get, so I got a bank statement, I whited out the total, and I put a new total in there.  I put exactly what I wanted to see in the bank.  So I thought, "What if I just visualized checks coming in the mail?"  So I just visualized a bunch of checks coming in the mail.  Within just one months things started to change.  It is amazing ; today I just get checks in the mail.  I get a few bills, but I get more checks than bills.  p 104

[Editor's note:  I wonder if visualized checks actually pays the bills, or does one just claim bankruptcy and start over?]

"A game I created that helped shift my feelings about my pile of bills was to pretend that the bills were actually checks. I would jump for joy as I opened them and say, "More money for me!  Thank you.  Thanks you."  I took each bill, imagined it was a check, and then I added a zero to it in my mind to make it even more. I got a notepad and wrote at the top of the page, "I have received," and then I would list all the amounts of the bills with an added zero.  Next to each amount I would write "Thank you", and feel the feelings of gratitude for receiving it - to the point where I had tears in my eyes.  Then I would take each bill, which looked very small compared to what I had received, and I would pay it with gratitude!

[Editor's note:  Evidently, this writer did not actually buy and covet the things that the credit cards purchased - she just got these nasty bills in the mail because she didn't want them and that's what she had focused on.

I never opened my bills until I had got myself into the feeling hat they were checks.  If I opened my bills before convincing myself they were checks, my stomach churn when I opened them.  I knew that the emotion of churning in my stomach was powerfully bringing in more bills.  I knew I had to erase that feeling and replace it with joyful feelings, so I could bring more money into my life.  In the face of a pile of bills, that game worked for me, and it changed my life. There are so many games you can create, and you will know what works best for you by the way you feel inside.  When you make-believe, the results come fast! p105

[Editor's note:  I hope this writer used those checks to pay those bills she had created to begin with.]

"You have got to feel good about money to attract more to you. Understandably, when people do not have enough money they do not feel good about money, because they don't have enough. But those negative feelings about money are stopping more money coming to you!  You have got to stop the cycle, and you stop it by starting to feel good about money, and being grateful for what you have.  Start to say and feel, "I have more than enough."  "There is an abundance of money and it's on its way to me" "I am a money magnet." "I love money and money loves me."  "Ii am receiving money every day."  "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you."  p 107

[Editor's note:  This is evidently what life is all about for this writer.

"Feeling happy now is the fastest way to bring money into your life.  p 111

"Make it your intention to look at everything you like and say to yourself. "I can afford that!  I can buy that."  You will shift your thinking and begin to feel better about money. p 111

[Editor's note:  This is the kind of thinking that creates debt in the first place.]

"Many people have sacrificed themselves for others, thinking when they sacrifice themselves, they are being a good person.  Wrong!  To sacrifice yourself can only come from thoughts of absolute lack, because it is saying, "There is not enough for everyone, so I will go without."  Those feelings do not feel good and will eventually lead to resentment.  There is abundance for everybody and it is each person's responsibility to summon their own desires.  You cannot summon for another person because you cannot think and feel for another.  Your job in You.  When you make feeling good a priority, that magnificent frequency will radiate and touch everyone close to you.  p 118

[Editor's note:  This writer evidently doesn't know what it means to have children, elderly parents, or care about humanity. She says if 'she' feels good, automatically everyone else she comes in contact with will also feel good.  Everyone else resents those they sacrifice for - naturally - because 'love' for others is evidently not connected to sacrifice in this writer's mind.]

"Your job is You. Unless you fill yourself up first, you have nothing to give anybody.  p 123

[Editors note:  'You' is not a job.  You, filled with love and compassion has a lifetime to share those things.  Money is never necessary to start giving to others, and millions of people volunteer their time and efforts sharing with those in need.]

"You cannot 'catch' anything unless you think you can, and thinking you can is inviting it to you with your thought. You are also inviting illness if you are listening to people talking about their illness and when you are giving all of your thought and focus to illness and when you give all of your thought to something you are asking for it. And you are certainly not helping them. You are adding energy to their illness. If you really want to help that person, change the conversation to good things, if you can, or be on your way. As you walk away, give your powerful thoughts and feelings to seeing that person well and then let it go. p 132

[Editors note: Disease or illness is not caught just because you think about it.  Millions of people get contagious diseases by going to school, shopping, or work and some babies are born with disease or illness they never thought of even in their first breath of life.  Many diseases are in the air and have nothing to do with 'thought'. Walking around 'thinking' you can't catch a disease is foolhardy - and not thinking about disease will not save you either.

Listening to people talk about their illnesses is what nurses, doctors, counselors, ministers, and priests train for years to help people.  They do not do all this training to add energy to the illnesses they treat. If we all walked away from people with illnesses and diseases, it would be a very sad world indeed.  Where is the compassion and love for these people?]

"Disease is held in the body by thought, by observation of the illness, and by the attention given to the illness. If you are feeling a little unwell, don't talk about it - unless you want more of it. If you listen to people talk about their illness, you add energy to their illness.  Instead, change the conversation to good things, and give powerful thoughts to seeing those people in health. p 139

[Editors note:  Disease is not held in the body by thought.  Certain illnesses have a specific lifetime of their own such as flu and colds though some can be shortened by drinking a lot of water, drinking teas and juice, and taking medications appropriate to the illness.  More serious diseases are not held in the body by thought either.  Many diseases can be eased by medications, and the body/mind connection, but to say that thinking about the diseases holds it in the body is erroneous.]

"People have a tendency to look at the things that they want and say, "Yes, I like that, I want that." However, they look at the things that they don't want and they give them just as much energy, if not more, with the idea that they can stamp it out, they can eliminate it, obliterate it. In our society, we've become content with fight against things. Fighting against cancer, fighting against poverty, fighting against violence. We tend to fight everything we don't want, which actually creates more of a fight.  p 141

[Editors note:  So, this writer is proposing that we as a nation and world community should ignore cancer, poverty, and violence, not to mention other diseases and societal ills and just let them happen, which actually means that everyone with cancer, poverty, or victim of violence will die so there is nothing to worry about or use our God-given intelligence to solve and conquer?

"The anti-war movement creates more war.  The anti-drug movement has actually created more drugs.  Because we're focusing on what we don't want - drugs!  - p 142

[Editor's note:  This is a statement made either by a Republican who loves the current government, OR a person who is totally naive to what the true government policies are.  Neither the anti-war movement, nor the anti-drug war has anything to do with 'positive thinking.  War and the drug problem are both created for self-profit by the government itself.]

"So if you're anti-war, be pro-peace instead. If you're anti-hunger, be pro-people having more than enough to eat. If you are anti-a-particular politician, be pro-his-opponent. Often, elections are tipped in favor of the person that the people are really against, because he's getting all the energy and all the focus. p 143

[Editor's note: Here again is a statement made by someone who evidently has no knowledge of true political events run by politicians and their promoters who will stoop to any trickery to have their way instead of the people's.]

"When I discovered 'The Secret' I made a decision that I would not watch the news or read newspapers anymore, because it did not make me feel good. The news services and the newspapers are not in any way to blame for broadcasting bad news.  As a global community, we are responsible for it. We buy more newspapers when a huge drama is the headline. The news channels' ratings skyrocket when there is a national or international disaster. So the newspapers and news services give us more bad news because, as a society, that's what we are saying we want. The media is effect, and we are cause.  It is just the law of attraction in action!  p 145

[Editor's note:  While I understand fully that watching the news or reading newspapers can be disturbing and it doesn't make us feel good, the news gives us the information we need to make informed decisions on what we need to do going forward in life. We cannot live life in a vacuum.

It is not a problem that people watch TV more or buy more newspapers when there is a huge crisis or drama going on in the world - that's how newspapers and TV stations make their money - which of whom of course has to support them because money is what this writer says life should be all about - and someone has to be on the bottom of the heap to provide the bucks those higher up on the money-ladder others are.  Where else would the money makers advertise their products or services?  The writer wants her cake and eat it too, while not supporting others who would like to do what she professes to do.  Not everyone can write a book about how to make money while quoting other money makers and then not advertise the book.  Guess where the book got its biggest support -  Oprah Winfrey on TELEVISION! I wonder who was watching the TV and buying the book that is making the writer rich!

[Editor's note:  For a man who earns his living saying that he talks to God, it is incredible to think that he teaches that there is no God to give souls a mission to do in life.  The fact is true that God is not an old man in the sky, however, souls do come into physical life with missions to fulfill that was decided while still in the spiritual realm before birth - some small, some large.  Every person has something they are here to do whether they figure it out or not.  There are enough cases of NDE  (Near Death Experiences) to know for certain that the soul judges itself when it leaves the body, a small number even experience going to hell because it is part of their religious training in life. There are still ghosts in cemeteries waiting for the Second Coming of Jesus, and they refuse to go to the light because Jesus hasn't come to fetch them. There is much suffering by ghosts in cemeteries because of erroneous Christian teachings.]

If everyone only does what brings them joy, they would never work or pay a bill etc.  They need to read Dickens "Bleak house" and look at Mr. Harold Skimpole.... who never does anything unless it makes him happy.. and all the ruin he ends up leaving in his wake.  He decides it doesn't make him happy to feed and support the kids his joy brought into the world and he leaves their mother and them behind.  He's always in debt because it doesn't make him happy to pay his bills, and he can't understand why he should do something like that because it makes him unhappy... he's always buying the best things on credit  (of course in that day they didn't have credit reporting services) and when it comes time to pay, he says to the merchants... it makes me happy to pay you, but since I don't work to make any money because that doesn't make me happy, Then I will be happy to imagine that I already paid you.  And you should be happy to imagine that you have already been paid...and since our thoughts are what are real to us, we will both then be happy....

And that is what this book is saying.... If Dickens knew the secret... he sure made fun of it in Bleak House.

Also, if we never did what makes us unhappy, the dog puke would still be on my living room rug!  My beloved dog Pebbles got sick this morning!  YUCK

From Rabbi Michael Berg, co-director of the Kabbalah Centre and the author of The Way – a national bestseller and One Spirit Book Club Selection – comes the book with most powerful teachings of the world’s oldest spiritual wisdom, unlocking the secret source of joy and fulfillment. This is a small book which answers life's biggest question - the quintessential secret to achieving happiness.

Using inspiring tales and excerpts from the writings of one of the world's great Kabbalists, Michael Berg takes you along with him as he describes how he pieced together the secret of life from the encoded wisdom of Kabbalah.

Including practical "dos and don’ts," Michael Berg makes it clear that we have not achieved the joy and fulfillment that we seek and that is our true destiny, because we "have it all wrong." Fulfillment is about giving not getting. Once we understand the "Secret" of sharing and giving, we will be on the path towards not only our own happiness but peace and fulfillment for the world.

My views on "The Secret"

The idea that the Law Of Attraction is a Universal Law, means that it is true all the time. If that is the case, then we live in a just world, where everyone always gets what they deserve.

This is one of the main aspects of the Law Of Attraction stuff that I take objection too. The other, is this: "The Secret" tells you that positive thinking will fulfill your desires. But from a Spiritual perspective, can you distinguish between an ego-based desire and an objective that originates in your primordial self? You have to be able to make that distinction. Desiring material goods and trying to use the law of attraction to get them, for your own pleasure because you desire expensive/nice things, or whatever, does not really seem like a spiritual motivation, right? You would still be looking to material things as a source of happiness, trying to use spiritual, energetic concepts to fulfill base desires. It seems like the ultimate form of insanity to me.

In my opinion, this is the type of thinking that the "so-called" Elite love to engage in, because it completely justifies thier actions, and their very existence as the established power. It plays right into their social Darwinism, that they have all they do because they are such wonderfully "Attractive" people who deserve everything they have, including their "divine right" to treat others the way they do. After all, the people who end up maimed, killed and enslaved "attracted their fate".

To say it is a Univeral Law is to say there are no victims, period.
They would love everyone to believe that.

Don't be mistaken in thinking I am telling people not to think positively, rather I am asking people to keep in mind the demonstratable cognitive biases human beings exhibit, and be honest with yourselves.

Understanding the Law of Attraction through the teachings of the Torah

Kabbalah of "The Secret"

by Shifra Hendrie

Over the past several months, a new movie called "The Secret" has been generating growing attention and excitement across America and
beyond. If you haven't heard about it yet, chances are you will. It's a phenomenon.

According to the film's producers, an eclectic group of visionaries, authors, motivational speakers and internet millionaires, The "Secret" is the
so-called "Law of Attraction". This "Law" states that our thoughts and emotions, if we hold them consistently enough, will generate our physical

Is The Secret real? Yes, as far as it goes. But there's far more to the story than that. The phenomenon of The Secret, as exciting as it may be, is
only a tiny part of the vast cosmic transformation that was predicted by the Torah thousands of years ago.

Geula - Seeing Through Walls

"In the sixth century of the sixth millennium, the gates of supernal wisdom will be opened, as will the springs of earthly wisdom, preparing the
world to be elevated in the seventh millennium." Zohar

"And the world will be filled with the knowledge of G-d like water covers the ocean bed." (Isaiah 11:9)

According to the Hebrew calendar, this is year 5767 since the creation of the world. We are living in the times of which the Zohar speaks. That's
why so many things are becoming possible that were never possible before.

When G-d created our world He concealed within it a vast reservoir of untapped spiritual and physical potential. This latent potential is now
beginning to assert itself in virtually every area of life. Whether in technology, medicine, science, psychology, or the ever-accelerating search
for spirituality and meaning, new boundaries are being broken every day. This is no accident; it is a sign of the times.

In these amazing times there are fewer limits than ever before on what human beings can experience and achieve. G-d is giving us a glimpse
of the infinity that lies beyond the walls - a glimpse that points to the underlying oneness and purpose beneath the surface of our diverse and
conflicted world.

As we get closer and closer to the times when, as the prophets say, "The world will be filled with the knowledge of G-d as water covers the ocean
bed", it becomes easier and easier to sense those vast, uncharted depths. And the more we relate to that underlying reality, the more we can see
 it poking through.

The Torah tells us that "ein od milvado" - there is in actuality nothing here but G-d.

Great tzadikim, holy people profoundly in touch with this deeper level of truth, have often been able to create miracles at will. Undeceived by
the apparent reality of our separateness, by the seemingly immutable limitations of the natural order, they have the power to "see through the
walls" and access higher planes of existence, creating or shifting physical circumstances from their spiritual source.

However, for ordinary people, trapped within physical bodies in a physical world, it has always been a great challenge to experience this deeper
truth as a tangible reality. But that was then. This is now.

In these times, poised, as we are, at the edge of history, moments before the final geula (Redemption), it is possible for even ordinary people to
begin to see through the walls. That means that you and I have far more power than ever before to access the realm of the miraculous in every
aspect of our lives.

G-d's relationship with us has always been in a sense like a game of hide and seek. He conceals Himself in the illusion of separateness and
the fragmented, confusing details of life and waits for us to find Him. But in these times, more than ever before, He lets us choose the rules
of the game.

When we refuse to allow the limitations of our emotional tendencies and physical circumstances to get in the way of our relationship with G-d,
of our trust, our confidence, our creativity, our joy, G-d responds in kind. Life becomes miraculous, unbounded by those limitations. We become
partners in Creation.

That is our destiny.

You and G-d - Two Partners in Creation

"Know that everything above" - all that transpires in the spiritual realm - is "from you," [dependent on your conduct]." The Maggid of Mezeritch

The physical world, although it experiences itself as separate and sourceless, is actually only the end of the long "chain of creation". Like the tip
of an iceberg, which is the visible part of a vast mountain of ice concealed below the water, our physical reality is the crudest, most visible
manifestation of its underlying spiritual source. Far from being separate, whatever happens in the physical world is simply an expression of
what is happening on the spiritual plane. Like every relationship, this works in two directions, each mirroring the other. Just as the spiritual
reality inevitably expresses itself in the physical world, our thoughts and actions here below have a very powerful effect on the spiritual realms.
And by the same token, once there is a change in the spiritual realms, there will automatically be a corresponding change in the physical world
as well.

That means that by changing our thoughts, emotions and actions, we change our world.

The Infinite Power of Joy

"When man below is of a "radiant countenance" and filled with joy and gladness, he then draws down upon himself the same qualities from
 Above." Zohar (II, p. 184b)

"Joy breaks through barriers." The Rebbe

"Joy breaks through all the boundaries of golus (exile). "The Rebbe

Kabbalah and Chassidus explain that the greatest channel for accessing this miraculous power is joy. True, each of us has our "nature", the
ingrained beliefs and tendencies that limit and define our choices in life. However, joy - simcha - breaks through those ordinary limitations
within you, allowing you to express yourself in ways your everyday nature does not allow. In the same way, in the macrocosm, joy breaks
through the limitations of the entire natural order, allowing a more transcendent, unlimited light to flow into the world. This light affects not
just you, but the world around you as well. Since everything you feel is mirrored Above, your joy and happiness not only expands you beyond
your own boundaries, it causes G-d to go beyond His own "nature" and pour additional blessings into the world.

Trust, a Channel for Divine Blessings

"Tracht gut, vet zein gut! (think good and it will be good)" the Tzemach Tzedek, third Rebbe of Chabad

"Blessed is he who puts his trust in G-d, for G-d will be his security." (Jeremiah 17:7)

The Rebbe explains that there is a fundamental difference between emunah, faith, and bitachon, trust. Faith is the unshakeable belief that
everything comes from G-d, and that everything G-d does is for the good. Trust, however, is more than just belief. Trust is the certainty that the
good that G-d bestows will come out in a way that feels good to you.

Faith will profoundly affect your outlook and behavior, but it won't necessarily change your heart. Trust is different. Trust alters your feelings.
Trust makes you happy.

When you truly trust in G-d, you feel like a very small child in the care of loving parents. The child knows that his parents will take good care of
him. He assumes, without even thinking about it, that he will always have more than enough of what he needs in every area of life. A trusting
child has no cause whatsoever for worry or anxiety. He feels happy, peaceful and secure.

By the time most of us have passed early childhood we've learned all too much about failure, disappointment and fear. That innocent, heartfelt
trust is gone. No matter how much faith we have in G-d's goodness or love, most of us no longer have the childlike certainty that everything will
turn out just fine.

Paradoxically, that's what makes trust, bitachon, so very powerful. It means letting go of all of your doubts, worries and fears, even when they
seem to make so very much sense according to the natural order of things. To trust means to simply connect to G-d's infinite love and goodness,
knowing absolutely He will not let you down, that He will make sure that you're safe and well provided for NO MATTER WHAT. From the
perspective of this kind of trust, it doesn't matter whether the solution to your troubles seems impossible to achieve. It doesn't even matter
whether you deserve to have things change or not. Obviously, as a responsible human being you should do your part as best you can - but
knowing that success does not depend on you.

Total trust, if it is real, can't help but make you happy. But there's more to it than that.

Your authentic, unconditional trust comes from a very deep place in your soul, and is very precious to G-d. When you trust in this way, you
have gone beyond the illusion of separateness. You have raised yourself, in a sense, higher than the limits of the physical world and connected
yourself directly to your Creator. This one action is so profoundly powerful that it will bring blessings, even miraculous blessings, into your life -
even if you may not fully deserve them.

The Rest of the Story

"All delicacies will be like dust" (Maimonides, Laws of Kings (referring to the time of Redemption)

Like the myriad breakthroughs in communication, medicine, science and technology, the phenomenon of The Secret is just another
manifestation of an accelerating spiritual transformation.

As we continue to move closer to the Climax of History - the Ultimate Redemption - the physical and spiritual planes continue to move more
and more into alignment and our thoughts have an ever more profound and direct effect on our reality. However, once again, this is only a
small piece of the story. What we can accomplish and where we are going is far more profound and complex than that.

Maimonides, in his Laws of Kings, says that in these times "all delicacies will be like dust". On the surface that means that just as dust is
infinitely plentiful, there will be great physical abundance. Those material luxuries that were once scarce, reserved for people of great power
and influence, will be available to ordinary people. For most of us this has already begun to come true.

However, there is a deeper explanation as well. In our times, at the Climax of History, we have the power - and the obligation - to look beyond
the struggle for survival, beyond the elusive lure of status, success and material prosperity, toward pleasures and possibilities that are far more
compelling and real. We are in the midst of an ongoing and accelerating journey toward consciousness. That is why "all delicacies will be like
dust". Not only will they be plentiful, but they will be relatively valueless - like dust - compared to the far greater and more exciting pleasures
 in store.

Yes, we can communicate instantaneously with anyone in the world. Yes, we can send people into space. Yes, we can create medical miracles.
Yes, we can crack the genetic code. And yes, we can attract material abundance into our lives, far more easily than ever before. And all of those
things have great value. They are all fulfillment of prophecy, and bring us closer to our ultimate destiny, a world that is full of joy, goodness,
abundance and G-dliness for everyone, forever.

But the real question is not how much we can get, but how far we can go; how we can use these newfound abilities to bring the world - and
ourselves - even more quickly toward our ultimate destiny.

Kabbalah and Chassidus hold the keys to unlocking this treasure house of human potential. As the Blueprint for Creation, it is what will allow
us to break through our unique challenges and access our unprecedented opportunities. It will help us to fulfill our purpose and meet our

"Intent is not a thought, or an object, or a wish. Intent is what can make a man succeed when his thoughts tell him that he is defeated. It operates in spite of the warrior's indulgence. Intent is what makes him invulnerable. Intent is what sends a shaman through a wall, through space, to infinity." ~ Carlos Castaneda (1931-)

"It is a sign of considerable advance when a man begins to be moved by the will, by
his own energy self- determined, instead of being moved by desire, i.e. by a response
to an external attraction or repulsion"
~ Annie Besant, The Ancient Wisdom.

Dr Masaru Emoto's work highlights two key pieces of information that relate to how water can be changed
  • Water is capable of holding patterns of energy, and for very long periods of time. The pattern you see in a particular
sample of water will remain that way until changed by some external factor; it won't disappear within a few minutes,
    or decay slowly over time.
  •  Anyone (and that includes you!) can change the patterns in water, simply by the power of intent. If you want to purify
water,  all you need to do is to focus on it for a few moments and express your gratitude to it for its live-giving properties.
Or you can play a beautiful Mozart sonata to the water, or tape a picture of Jesus Christ or the Buddha to its container.
Your intent can influence and change the energy that the water carries. And the fact that you can also change it
negatively with hate-filled words should give you cause to think more carefully about what you say and how you
say it (remember, our bodies are more than 70% water in composition)!

What is Healing?

Healing = Change = Wellness
Healing = letting Go of Fear = inner peace
Healing = any change in a situation /conflict which resolves or enters a higher state
Healing = any positive energetic change in the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual components
of a living person, or animal.

Intent on Change = Intent on Healing

Healing and Change are interchangeable Both Healing and Change are a Process

To Heal / Change - the nature of our being
- the nature of our doing
- the nature of our feeling
- the nature of our thinking
- the nature of our expressing
- the nature of our creative self
Transform : Fear into Love
Transform : Hopelessness into Faith
Transform : Resentment into Compassion

Question: Why do you say in your writings that healers don't heal?

Answer: Because they don't! Healing, along with everything else including peace, happiness, enlightenment and all
so-called miracles, happens from the inside out - NOT from the outside in. There is NO outside agency. Healers do not
heal, they balance. Healers facilitate the process of transformation - a process by the way which must ALWAYS begin
with the human's INTENT to be healed. If a person does not INTEND to be healed, or the timing is not appropriate for
whatever reason (and sometimes it isn't), then nothing is going to happen regardless of who the so-called healer is.
Not even Sathya Sai Baba, Siddhartha, or Jesus of Nazareth could heal a person against that person's power of intent.
It is the human's own PURE SPIRITUAL INTENT that is always the catalyst.

2. Meanwhile, subjective reality as I have understood it so far (along with The Secret, and a lot of personal development stuff that doesn't use the term "subjective reality")
seems to suggest that thoughts create reality. What you think about, you create more of. Thought is the primary "stuff" of reality.

I've come to hold belief
1. through some success with meditation. I *want* to believe
2. as well, though I'd say I'm not there yet.

But are they just inherently contradictory? Or can they be reconciled? If getting caught up with thinking is somehow a distraction from Being, does that mean you have to reject the idea that thought is the basis of reality? Can you believe in some kind of Zen-like "enlightenment" and also believe in The Secret?

This is a pretty much the realization that Buddhist philosophy or practice leads to). Since
you are a meditator, this might make sense.

It is correct that you are not the mind. You are not your thoughts. When, in deep
meditation, you "enter" the gap zone, between thoughts, or otherwise thoughts get very refined, start becoming mere formless energy impulses, and then you suddenly make a quantum jump and transcend even those impulses. Suddenly, you recognize your true Buddha Nature, or Atman, and reach what is termed in Yoga as nirvikalpa samadhi
(bliss which arises fro a complete absence of modifications of the mind). You realize the
 true Self.

Now regarding your second question about The Secret or Law of Attraction or so-called "subjective reality", I find almost everybody has oversimplified this so-called "Law" and
it has created much erroneous misinterpretation.

First of all, if we really investigate the nature and behavior of the mind, we realize that
we don't truly have free-will. In fact, we don't even "own" our thoughts. They simply
happen in the mind.

Now, in Vedanta, there are two concepts, known as buddhi and shakti. Buddhi (from
which the title Buddha is derived, meaning the Awakened One) means pure intelligence
of enlightenment without coloration by duality (good/bad, pleasure/pain etc). Shakti
means the energy to create, which is also an attribute of the Self (meaning the Universal
Self, as realized in meditation).

The objective of all meditative or devotional traditions, whether Hindu, Buddhist, Zen,
Taoist etc is to awaken buddhi. The objective is not to get trapped in trying to realize
powers of shakti. If buddhi is first awakened, the discrimination to correctly use of shakti,
or power of intent, is automatically awakened. But the reverse is not true. Which is why Christ said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God [meaning awakening to enlightenment]...
and all these things shall be added unto you."

A third concept in Advaita is maya, or "that which appears seemingly real". Essentially,
the Law of Attraction functions in the realm of maya. So, "thoughts creating our reality"
is actually quite incorrect, since this so-called "reality" is actually a dream, as understood from the enlightened state (which I described above). Neither this body exists, nor the
mind, nor the universe. It is like the Matrix in which stuff exists - all a holographic
projection of the Self (meaning the underlying Real substratum beneath all material
objects and phenomena).

This is where The Secret or Law of Attraction fails. It is focused on desiring and creating, without the necessary discrimination present as a counterbalance to dictate whether
what is desired is in one's own highest interest. Instead of accepting the flow of universal life, we seek to change it because of our inherent dissatisfaction with what IS in the
universe and our perceived human life. The world or our life is not good or bad, pleasant
or painful. We imagine it to be so because of our false understanding of Reality.

If you look at any historical enlightened Master who exhibited "miraculous" powers, you
will see that they simply acted out of communion with their divine Self. The powers were never used or displayed to attract things to themselves. They were simply an expression
of the universal flow of existence expressed through their bodies, because they had
dropped all sense of personal identity or doership.

Many of us have heard the expression “cogito, ergo sum”… "I think, therefore I am". This statement is widely attributed to René Descartes, which became a fundamental part of Western thinking. This idea has been primarily used in a philosophical manner to prove to ourselves that we exist, because of our ability to be cognitive of the fact that we exist. Sure everyone could be a figment of each other’s imagination but for the sake of actually conceptualizing somethin useful, let’s assume we are not all living in the Matrix. Even though Descartes made this phrase popular, he certainly borrowed the idea from St. Augustine. At the time, liberal independent secular thinking separate from the church was becoming prevalent and being pushed hard, thus the accreditation was directed at Descartes instead of St. Augustine. Regardless, the message is clear, but I believe it is and has been WIDELY misinterpreted for centuries and is even more so now especially.

It appears that these philosophers, Descartes and St. Augustine are trying to tell us that since we think, therefore we exist. But I ask you to reconsider what they were trying to illustrate. I think they had a different message and if you bear with me on this one, I promise it will be worth it. These were very spiritual men, who would never doubt their existence. Men of faith seldom question things like their existence, because of their firm belief in God and the creation of man and the universe. I think their message was different and the true message behind cogito ergo sum is a coveted secret that very few people keep in hiding, because of it’s power. A message that if all clearly understood would benefit each of us as individuals and collectively immensely. I think the message was actually depicting “whatever I think, is what I am”. Are you still with me? In other words, “with my thoughts, I create my existence”. I am whatever I think I am. They are trying to clearly portray that we, as cognitive self-aware humans, have full control of only one thing… our own thoughts. Everything else is seemingly out of our control.

Albert Einstein said “imagination is a thousand times more powerful than intelligence” and he is arguably one of the most intelligent men to ever exist.

Our imagination is so powerful, we could say it is powerful beyond belief, but that all depends on what you believe. If you believe in limits you will live in limits. Beliefs are merely a product of a collection of thoughts that are deemed conclusive in your mind, a prejudice actually. If you see yourself happy and successful, that’s what you’ll be or that’s what you’ll become in time. You know the expression “if you fake it long enough, you’ll become it”? Well that expression is prevalent here. If you think your happy and you think happy thoughts, you’ll consequently fee happy. What you think and feel is the bulk of what makes up your living reality. The problem is that most of us assume that feelings come first then we think about justifications as to why we feel that way. However, the most successful people first think up their realities using things like goals, their imagination, visualization, affirmations, prayers, meditation and other forms of cognitive expression (such as art and science) and create feelings from that.  It’s true, think about it. Why do we always say things like “it’s my dream to…”; “I have a vision that one day…” or “I can (or can’t) see that happening.”?? We say these things because we are literally visualizing our future or our past experiences. That’s why athletes “visualize” performances before and after they occurred. That’s why performers run though their entire routine over and over in their head before they hit the stage.  Strong minded and spirited individuals use things like meditation or use hypnosis to achieve various states of cognitive awareness. These are just methods of refining thoughts, specifically subconscious ones to bypass limited conscious beliefs. Limited conscious beliefs control our reality in the materialistic physical world. Limited beliefs = Limited thoughts = limited imagination (or the belief that imagination is just silly and childish) = limited reality.

Thoughts are not limited by the confines of space and time, as are our physical bodies, however our social habits and physical enslavement have shackled us into the confines of limitation. In terms of thoughts, there is no past or future, no limits. Nobody can control your thoughts. Thoughts are simply energy fields. This is proven science. Children have the wildest imaginations and think of some of the most amazing things in the world. They have so much fun doing it until their parents and our pathetically limiting social system takes it away from them by imposing restrictive belief systems on them**. I wonder if the developers Google or PlayStation or Windows were shunned away from using their imagination? Doubt it! As a matter of fact every great invention, great piece of art or great technology began as a thought in someone’s imagination. These types of successful companies encourage the uses of creative imaginative thinking. It’s the basis of their intellectual property.

Thoughts are energies that burn into the universe and manifest themselves in physical ways. And whatever they are is what you choose to focus on. This may sound far-fetch and hard to believe, but you can create your own reality by virtue of what you choose to think and ultimately what you choose to focus on. The more importance you give to a thought, the more prevalent and real it becomes. I will provide examples of this in a moment. It never really occurred to me just how important the distinction between thoughts and focus are until someone made me aware of it. We can think of a number of things, thereby carving out many channels of possibilities for ourselves. Then it is our choice as to what we focus on. That’s what freewill is the essential ingredient of our spiritual existence. These philosophers and almost all great spiritual teachers preached about the decisions and choices we have and their importance. Apparently, random events do happen, but we still choose how to react to them.
We have all heard the saying “if you believe it for long enough, it will come to be”, this statement is not about ignorance, but about the power of thoughts and their manifestation.

Let me show you some real examples of situations that people encounter regularly and their thoughts, focus and the energies of manifestation create reality.

Scenario 1: The jealous man
A guy thinks his girlfriend of cheating on him, but she isn’t. He has many thoughts about her being unfaithful, he sees her smile at someone at a social event and perceives it as if she is sexual flirting. He accuses her of being promiscuous and she begins to lose respect for him. She withdraws a little bit. He mistrust her even more claiming ‘she is hiding something’. He is sickened by her every move. She tried to love him but can’t any longer. She is driven into the arms of another and… bam. He was right. He created his own reality by choosing to focus on infidelity.

Here’s the crazy part. Even if she never cheated at all, he would still experience the same anguishing feelings of betrayal, because that’s what he believes is true and the feeling associated with this betrayal are prevalent and real to him. His thoughts made it real to him regardless of whether it did happen or not.

Scenario 2: Taken for granted or cherished
A woman with a very kind and generous heart is always giving to others, it brings her great joy to do this and it makes her happy and most people they are kind to, are extremely grateful for it. However, this woman has a cynical friend, who starts to tell her “stop letting people take advantage of you”. So the next time she is in situation where someone is in need of help, she hesitates. She thinks “this person is using me”, she starts to become bitter and continues to see everyone asking for a favour as an attempt to use her. All the people that once admired her are now beginning to change their opinions about her and drift away from her. Inevitably she feels abandoned and concludes that her friend was right along, because these people are no longer close to her, ever since she stopped being so naïve and letting them take her for granted. Low and behold, she created her reality with her thoughts and her choice of focus. Had she of just taken it with a grain of salt and continue to do what brought her joy, she would be happy and admired and people would probably even start giving more back to her then she could ever anticipate.

This isn’t a case of the glass is half empty or half full. This isn’t a case of pessimism and optimism. This isn’t a case of cynicism or blissful ignorance. No. It just is. You think, you create reality and this reality has no label, it just is what it is… existence. So now that you know this, what can you do to use this to your advantage?

It’s three simple steps.

1) Focus. Focus on what you want and give glance to but don’t focus on obstacles or negative outcomes.

2) Visualize. See it happen and trust with blind faith that it will come. DO NOT interfere or try to control how it will come to be.

3) Faith and Grace. Have utmost gratitude for what you do have and act grateful as if you already have what you are thinking of.

You create reality with your thoughts because thoughts do become things. So choose your thoughts wisely. You are in control, of only that. Cogito, ergo sum. You think therefore you are… what you think you are and what you think about.

It's time to stop living as a slave to your lower forms of intelligence. Hunger, emotions, feelings, lust and your earthy desires are probably controlling you when you should be controlling them. You are a higher form of intelligence you are not simply an animal that adheres only to instincts and physical desires. You have a gift that you should be grateful for. Use this great gift you have, your power of intent and your power of creation through thought manifestation.

New Spiritual Method Called 'The Secret' Promoted On Tv Has A Hidden Occult Link
Spirit Daily ^ | 02.19.07

We have to issue an occult watch -- perhaps "warning" is more like it -- for a new self-
help trend that apparently is sweeping or beginning to sweep segments of America.
The "method" is now on DVD as a movie called The Secret, and has been featured, among other places, on Oprah and Larry King Live.   We are reluctant to readily dismiss innovative spiritual means, and always urge openness in the supernatural realm, which is so often beyond human reckoning.   But in the case of The Secret, a warning is especially needed because its claims and temptations are especially potent: ancient wisdom, it is said -- an ancient secret -- that can change your life, that can turn your existence around, that  was used by famed inventors and philosophers throughout history.

"The Secret is released to the world!" says its official website. "This ground-breaking
feature length movie presentation reveals The Great Secret of the universe. It has been
passed throughout the ages, traveling through centuries... to reach you and humankind.
"This is The Secret to everything -- the secret to unlimited joy, health, money,
relationships, love, youth: everything you have ever wanted.  "In this astonishing program are ALL the resources you will ever need to understand and live The Secret. For the first time in history, the world's leading scientists, authors, and philosophers will reveal The Secret that utterly transformed the lives of every person who ever knew it... Plato, Newton, Carnegie, Beethoven, Shakespeare, Einstein."  Now, they say, "YOU will
know The Secret. And it could change your life forever."

But perhaps not for the better.    In fact, while there is not yet enough known about that
bold assertion, for years an occult organization known as the Rosicrucians -- with
ties to Masonry, and even thought to be sort of an "illuminati" (or aspiring illuminati),
have advertised "the secret" as a new path in life, and list Leonardo DaVinci and
Benjamin Franklin -- if not Einstein and Newton -- among its success stories.  "The
secret is knowledge," says a Rosicrucian website. "Not knowledge in the sense of
acquiring information but an inner knowledge of your own potential to achieve
wisdom, strength, compassion, and peace.

"Rosicrucians call this Mastery of Life. It embraces all aspects of who you are and all you
can be -- physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. It is a relationship
and understanding of the divine laws of the universe. The Mastery of Life is not
difficult to grasp, but the secret of the Rosicrucian tradition has been protected and
preserved for thousands of years, shown only to those who have proven a true
desire to know."   While there is no mention, as yet, of Rosicrucians, the parallels to
the secret brandished by the occult organization are extremely suspicious and the power
behind the potential deception warrants an alert. The name "Rosicrucian" appears to
flash on the screen in a trailer for the movie, after a photo of Albert Einstein.

If nothing else, "the secret" rings of other "self-help" methods like rolfing, mind
control, TM, Tony Robbins, the "Course in Miracles," and self-actualization that saw
currency in the 1970s or 1980s and fell under the style of New Age-style philosophies.
And however details emerge,
the large claims and comportment of adherents [see here]
grants one pause.    The "secret" as presented on Oprah was linked also to bestselling
author Jack Canfield of Chicken Soup for the Soul and other celebrities. Due to the power
of the Winfrey show, and previous complaints of flirtation with the New Age, we
recommend that Christians stay away from this "method" and even the movie.

While the positive thinking and faith-filled aspects of such philosophies are to be lauded,
the focus on materialism, the centering on "self," the lack of involvement of God
-- and especially Christ -- as well as the posture that suffering can be avoided, run
against the central precepts of Christianity and wander into ancient paganism.
"Is there a 'secret agenda?'" asked one reviewer, Philip E. Harris, in American Chronicle.
"Being a Rosicrucian I could not help but notice the frequency with which the word
Rosicrucian flashed between speakers in the film. John indicated that 'wisdom is
wisdom' and anyone who searches out universal laws will run into the various lists
of secret organizations, some of which have been more popularized than others. He
thought that some of the people connected to the movie were probably Rosicrucian
and that he also, in addition to studying Mayan and other mystery teachings,
had studied Rosicrucian teachings.

"This relatively sequestered order has come to the forefront of late and is receiving
greater publicity. However, [one man involved in the film] felt that there is only
a sincere altruistic desire on the part of those connected to the film to bring much that
has been hidden into the mainstream for all to share."  "The Secret is one of the divine
laws of the universe," wrote columnist Carolyn Sackariason of the Aspen Times, speaking of the movie. "'The 'Mastery of Life' is not difficult to grasp, but the secret of the Rosicrucian tradition has been protected and preserved for thousands of years,
shown only to those who have proven a true desire to know."

"According to the Rosicrucian legend, the order began with one Christian Rosenkreuz,
born in 1378 in Germany," notes an informational site.   "Beginning in 1393, he visited
Damascus, Egypt, and Morocco where he sat under the masters of the occult arts. Upon
his return to Germany, he began in 1407 the Rosicrucian Order with three monks from
the cloister in which he had been raised. He also erected the House of the Holy Spirit
(the Spiritus Sanctum) which was completed in 1409. The original group was enlarged
to eight. Christian Rosenkreuz died in 1484 (at the age of 106) and was entombed in the
Spiritus Sanctum. Knowledge of his tomb was lost, but it was rediscovered in 1604. Its
opening led to the spread of the Order anew."

While some deny a direct link to Masonry, noted Wikipedia, "according to a lesser known
legend of the 18th-century Rosicrucianist-Masonic group the Golden and Rosy Cross,
the Rosicrucian Order was created in year 46 when an Alexandrian Gnostic sage named
Ormus and his six followers were converted by one of Jesus' disciples, Mark.
From this conversion, Rosicrucianism was born, fusing early Christianity with
Egyptian mysteries. In this version, rather than being its founder, Christian Rosenkreuz
would have been initiated into and become the Grand Master of an existing Order.
"According to this group's legend, the Rosicrucian Order was founded by Egyptian
'Ormusse' or 'Licht-Weise' who emigrated to Scotland with the name 'Builders from
the East.' Then the original Order disappeared and was supposed to have been
resurrected by Oliver Cromwell as 'Freemasonry.'

"In 1785 and 1788 the Golden and Rosy Cross group published the Geheime Figuren
or 'The Secret Symbols of the 16th and 17th-century Rosicrucians.' These works
declared the existence of a secret brotherhood of alchemists and sages who were
preparing to transform the arts, sciences, religion, political, and intellectual landscape
of Europe while wars of politics and religion ravaged the continent."

From the Publisher
The Secret is truly the most outstanding book to date that we have published. I am so pleased that Rhonda Byrne was able to bring together this life-changing information so masterfully. She first did it for the movie of the same name that she produced, which has been a phenomenon in its own right. She then added, in only ones month's time, incredible additional content to the transcript of the film that brings even more clarity to the reader. This is absolutely a book that people from all walks of life can read and then "get" the concept of The Secret. It allows them to then take it and apply it to their lives. Children, teenagers and adults of all ages are reporting miraculous stories of positive changes as a result. Rhonda Byrne is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of The Secret and to making sure that now, finally, the whole world knows about The Secret. You will want to share this with your friends and family and they will be grateful for it. This book gives hope for what many have been waiting for-- a shift in the way the world thinks. Its a very exciting time that we are living in, and I as well as everyone at Beyond Words and Atria Books are grateful to be a part of it.

Law of Attraction Resources

  • Understanding the Law of Attraction
We create our own reality. We attract those things in our life (money, relationships, employment) that we focus on. I wish I could tell you that it is as simple as stating an affirmation, but no affirmation is going to work if your thoughts or feelings are negating the positive.
  • Law of Attraction: Attracting Positives
There is a trick to the Law of Attraction. This trick is not really as magical as one might imagine. We attract the things that we focus on. When we focus on not having enough that thought form supports the "lack of" we routinely experience.
  • Manifesting Picture Book
Instructions for creating your very own manifesting picture book. Create as many pages as you like in your manifestation scrapbook. The more pages the better. More = Abundance!
  • The Secret
The "Buzz" around this book and its message is nothing short of phenomenal! The Secret is a compilation of teachings from spiritual leaders laying out the basics of the Law of Attraction.
  • More Law of Attraction Resources
People who are efficient in attracting positives have trained their minds to focus on their desires. Abundance comes to them naturally. They wouldn't blink an eye if someone suggested they don't deserve something, it isn't part of their reality.
  • The Power of Intention: Books: Wayne W. Dyer

After years of spiritual study and reflection, inspirational speaker and bestselling author Wayne Dyer has emerged a highly esteemed teacher. ...
