SPIRIT MESSAGE - GARDENING IN THE EARTHCHANGES

by Dee Finney

4-3-2002 - Thank you for coming. In today's marketplace, we are hardly aware of the day to day changes. Prices are a little up and a little down - the next week the same, but there is a change coming that will be more drastic.

With floods and droughts coming at the same time in various parts of the world, in this global economy, both extremes will hurt the economy from opposite extremes. Expect prices of goods to skyrocket from these extremes and shortages.

In the U.S. and other major economies, you will still be able to buy goods and food if you have the money and a job. But there are those who will be without. Within families, you will need to begin to share more, either with food or with money. It would be wise to garden this year even if you never did before. Even a little garden patch will help.

Those who grow zucchini will laugh - it makes me chuckle right now, remembering bumper crops of the past. When zucchini is abundant, there is an endless supply, and an endless array of ways to use it, but finally you can't even give it away. So grow some!

Dee is smiling. She remembers those days, endless days of gardening, growing tomatoes, carrots, beans, peas, corn, all those good things she has to buy now. In her early days, she learned the lessons well - how to stretch a dollar, gardening, canning, freezing.

Her ancestors before her, too  - farmers - they ate well when the economy was bad. There was no starvation on the farm.

It is time to be like them, you may not have the money to by fancy cars, but you wont go hungry. Plan now for the future. Spring is here and its not too late to buy seed and plant that garden. The bigger the better.

Be ambitious and share.

I bid you adieu.

Yep, so true. Those zucchini's are good in making zucchini bread! Zucchini casserol, salads, soups, etc.
Love em. We are always sharing amongst our neighbors here and in Calif- when they come up here, they bring
us almonds and winter squash and we trade and give them potatoes- all four kinds which we grow and give
them our fresh farm eggs too. No hormones, no pesticides. Free-range chickens!
thanks for sharing this Dee.
