DREAM - 5-4-03 -   This dream took place where I've ever never been. It seemed to be in the country.

There were a lot of children playing outside and I spotted a large white bear outside and herded the children inside the house to safety. But nobody stayed inside the house and I had to continuously look for the children and herd them back into the house.  

Then I saw a smaller black bear and worried more about the children running into him and so I had to find the children and herd them back into the house again. There were many doors in the house so this was a difficult job.

The scene switched, but I was still inside the house. I was painting walls with a roller and white paint. My arch-enemy (female) was there with her boyfriend. They were painting also. When I was finished, I was going to clean my roller and pan, but the woman took my tools away and replaced them with a pan that had a clipboard in it.

On the clipboard, I had to write a report to the boss about what happened - he was like God - a huge deep-pitched voice I remembered from earlier in my memory. I started to write that I had done all this because of a 'vision' - then I thought better of using that word and verbally danced around the issue to write my story.

I left the clipboard on the desk and went to the bathroom - not closing the door.  A very tall man (over 7 feet) walked by the door and said to me, "ROV said it didn't happen the way you said it did."  (ROV is a lightbeing I communicate with from time to time)

I explained to him that I had had to paint a face with vertical diamonds on its cheeks and horizontal diamonds above the eyes.

In 1974, the world's largest radio telescope was built at Arecibo in Puerto Rico. It was decided to send a radio transmission into space, containing a coded message about human beings, towards a globular star cluster called M13 in the constellation of Hercules. It would take the message around 74,000 years to arrive, so we shall not be around even if ETs from M13 send a reply.  (Hercules is a constellation close to 24,000 light years away, with approximately 300 suns in it.)

The picture was sent in binary code - that is in 0's and 1's. It was in the form of a grid, mostly containing white squares ( 0's ) but with the message in black squares (1's) . It contained a crude picture of a human being, with two legs and a head, the atomic numbers of the chemicals from which we are formed (carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus) and a picture of the double helix of DNA.

On August 13, 2001, in a next to the observatory at Chilbolton, Hampshire, England, what seemed to be a reply was received in the form of 'tramples' marks in the crop. About five days later, there was another 'transmission'. The first formation was that of an alien face, in which the face was formed of 'pixels' in the manner of dots in a newspaper photograph, while the second formation was a 'reply' to the Arecibo binary message.

Dr. Frank Drank and astronomer Carl Sagan designed the original message with the prime numbers 23 and 27 to form a matrix of the 1679 units.

The crop formations found in the field were 145 by 165 feet, including the 'frame' around the alien face. The second formation was nearly 90 by 265 feet as measured by Charles R. Mallett.

From ground level, the formations look like chaos. They are only recognizable from the air. The crop was barely two feet fall, with tufts of crop making up the pixels. Some of the tufts were only a few stems wide - others much larger.  There are 412 grain-matrix dots - the biggest 3 yards in diameter.The pattern is set up in a diamond-fashion of 41 degrees. (Exactly 40.89 degrees)

Further examination of the face formation shows more sacred geometry - finally deciphering that the 'Seal of Solomon' of two interlocking triangles over the nose area. When a circle is drawn around the hexagram, it forms an exact tangent with the inner limit of the upper and lower frame sides and the outer  limit of the left and right sides of the frame. The width of the frame itself is also proof of the correct proportions, as it can only have the width it really has in the field, and none else embrace the embedded secrets. Researchers tried to compare the alien face  to a human face and found the proportions off. They also tried comparing it to the face on Mars with the different results. Amazingly, the matrix is similar.  Does this mean that aliens are from Mars?

The secondary formation had some intriguing differences from the one we sent out in the radio transmission.  Their message added silicon to the list of basic elements necessary in the body, thus also changing the DNA structure. Carl Sagan estimated that our DNA structure has 4,294,441,822 base pairs. The return message in the crop formation showed that the ETs have 4,294,955,110 sequences. Another difference is that the ETs have a third strand in their DNA compared to our 2.  And their size was 1/2 of ours but that there were twice as many of them as of us humans.

In our radio   transmission - man is shown over the Earth symbol, in the crop formation, the home planet of the aliens was shown to be Mars. NASA denies that there is any life on Mars, but tells us that there is the right combination of chemicals on several of Jupiter's moons - water and silicon.  The major moons are IO, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto.


The superimposition of this matrix over the human figure is reminiscent of the description of Ezekiel's vision in THE BIBLE. It has been interpreted as the Mystical Body of Christ.

And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the appearance of a man above upon it.

The mathematical zone of neutral resonance occurs at the centers of each cube, visualized as Tiphareth and Daath. This allows Nuit into the visualization as the heart of the Diamond Body, that which is naught. The heart-aorta resonating oscillator link with the brain can be activated by tuning both brain-waves and heart rate to meditational mode. As this system becomes "tuned," an ideal coupling occurs and a link with the earth-ionosphere is achieved.

It is at this point that specific geometrical manipulations create a series of "gates" or "keys," and access then occurs to specific archetypes. Direct access to psyche is available and Daath is experienced on the psychological level as gnosis. A geometric set of building blocks can be stacked to produce the space-time shapes of the brain, going from Hadit (microcosmic) to Nuit (macrocosmic).

The Vector Equilibrium can be formed into the Diamond Body by the addition of eight tetrahedrons to the truncated corners. (See Figure 8). The field formed by these tetrahedrons is known as the Isotropic Vector Matrix.(1)

This I.V.M. is an omnitriagulated web extending throughout all-space. It is the geometric form within which the primitive Vector Equilibrium forms. The Vector Equilibrium centers on a nexus point within the subtle net known as the I.V.M. The Cube of Space can be later enlarged into another V.E.M. by incorporating a larger area of the I.V.M.

These vectors are the most economical lines of energy transference. They are the path of least resistance which is always favored in natural processes. They are not only the way energies are likely to move, but the way they "like" to do it. The conceptual aspect of the geometry is simply a way for our minds to grasp the process. Fuller contends that even our thoughts are tetrahedronally conveyed in our gray matter. So, as we are conceiving it, it is manifesting in our very thought process.

This "laddering" geometry, which is found in the Tree of Life, is the foundation of all Magick. There have been depictions of 3-dimensional Trees of Life, amalgamated such that they build into a solid and fill all-space.(2)

This mathematical, speculative work was the qabalistic project of Aleister Crowley's star pupil, Frater Achad (Charles Stansfield Jones). It is very useful to connect current scientific concepts with the topological system furnished by QBL. This keeps our practice of Qabala contemporary, and offers a spiritual touchstone for our scientific fantasies. Our geometrical description of the ground state allows the brain to visualize, conceptualize, and experience the effects of the Philosopher's Stone.

5-10-03 - DREAM - I had moved into a new garden apartment out in the country. My apartment was really nice and I started to meet my neighbors. They were a little unusual to say the least.

On one side of me, a chubby woman lived and she had a large storage closet with shelves in it that she showed me. The shelves were full of glass vases, urns and glasses of various colors that sparkled and shone. She actually climbed up into the storage cabinet to sit in amongst her sparkling glassware.

I heard a noise at the door like a knock, so I ran to the door. It was late at night and I didn't want to just open the door to see who was there, so I hollered through the door, "Who is there?"  No one answered. So I went to another door and repeated my words, "Who is there?" No one answered. So I turned off the light in the livingroom and looked out the window. Outside all was peaceful - everything glowed in the moonlight and starlight.

Morning came and I went outside and started weaving silver strands of ribbon in the fencing next to my apartment for a little privacy.

The man next door on the other side of me came home and discovered that his wife had left him and most of the stuff in his apartment was gone. He told me out in the yard that his wife considered a lot of the stuff 'hers' , like the perfume and TV set and jewelry, etc. so she took it with her.

I could rather understand that kind of thinking.

While we were talking, a little boy came along and heard us talking. The boy said to the man, "Your wife has already moved in with the guy down the street."

The man said, "I rather knew something was going on with her, so I went down to the mall and opened up a new business. I'm selling bicycles now, so why don't you kids come down to the store and see what I've got to offer. "

I said, "I really like positive thinking. You'll do well for yourself."

The man and the boy left and I continued the weaving process on the fence with silver ribbons.

I looked up into the sky and little white puffs of clouds scudded across the sky and as I watched the clouds changed shape and became like animals; a goose, a rabbit, a goat, a horse, etc. One became a silver bear and he grew and expanded and he opened his eyes like he was alive and then next to him, another puffy cloud unfolded and became a huge golden and then white ear. He opened his eyes and spoke to me. He said, "You never have to worry about anything. We'll always be here to watch over you."

That thought rather comforted me because he was so beautiful, and as I watched, his fur parted on his tummy and his naval started to show through the fur and became a yellow and green blooming flower.  It rather looked like it was made of ceramic stone - it was glossy and shiny, and focused on the flower and woke up.

During this new aeon of Light there will be the Judgement of the Earth and the release of the sun from its circumpolar spiral.

19: We will see the old geometries of the Big Dipper change according to the scales of Orion and the Pleiades.

20: The Big Dipper (Ursa Major) and the Little Dipper (Ursa Minor) are the threshhold gates of the lower evolution in oppostion to the Pleiades, the seven lampstands to the Throne of the Father. At the end of time we will see the war of the heavens adn the coming of the Host of Michael. This will free the planetary intelligences from the influences of Ursa Major and Ursa MInor, the negative influences controlling the root races of this planet UR.

Constellation: URSA MAJOR (The Big Bear)

Asterism: The Big Dipper (Plough, Drinking Gourd)

Ursa Major (Big Bear) is the third largest of the 88 officially-recognized constellations. Several stars form a smaller asterism within the constellation, variously called the "Big Dipper" (America), "Plough" (Britain), or many other names. The Big Dipper is one of the most easily recognizable groups of stars in the sky, being circumpolar (never setting below the horizon) and therefore visible in northern skies year-round.

Skylore:

The "handle" of the dipper represents the "tail" of the bear on ancient star maps--even though modern bears don't have long tails! A Greek story (the Big Bear was so-called before Homer) explains that Zeus fell in love with a mortal woman named Callisto, who was a far-traveler and a huntress. His wife Hera became jealous, and changed Callisto into a large bear. When Callisto failed to return after a long journey, her son Arcas set out to find her, and in a forest one day met a huge bear. To his horror, the bear started to run toward him. Not perceiving it was his mother, Arcas fitted an arrow to his bow and was about to slay the bear, when Zeus, to avert the impending tragedy, changed Arcas into a smaller bear (he could not undo the spell of Hera). Then Zeus grabbed both bears by the tails, swung them around (thus stretching their tails out), and hurled them into the sky where they would be safe and immortal. However, Hera had the last word, moving them to the portion of the sky that never sets, so that until the end of the world Callisto and Arcas must endure weariness without rest.

Observance:

Notice whether the dipper would be full of water, or whether it's upside down in the sky. Some Native Americans associated the dipper with the colors of autumn leaves, poured out in the fall by the upside down bowl.

You can learn, as did ancient sailors or western cowhands on the night watch, to tell the time of the night by the position of the big dipper. Due to the daily rotation of the earth, the dipper rotates around the north star (Polaris) every twenty four hours.

Finding other constellations using the Big Dipper

Finding of the big dipper in the sky, gives you the starting point for identifying many other stars. Use it as a skymark for the following constellations.

 

  1. The Pointers: The two stars forming the pouring edge of the Big Dipper's bowl (on the side away from the handle) point to Polaris, the north star, in the constellation Ursa Minor, Little Bear. Polaris is a rather faint star about five times farther away than the distance between the pointers themselves.

  2. Continuing on this line from the Pointers on past Polaris, at an equal distance opposite the big dipper, you intersect Cassiopeia. Cassiopeia, Queen of Ethiopia, is a W-shaped constellation reclining in the starry band of the Milky Way. Cassiopeia is circumpolar, like the Big Dipper, visible no matter what the season of time of night from most of the United States. Cassiopeia may also be found by tracing a line from Epsilon (the first star of the Big Dipper's handle) through Polaris.

  3. Tracing a line from the Pointers of the Big Dipper to Polaris and past Cassiopeia, you come to a large, nearly perfect square of four stars (almost directly overhead in autumn) called the Great Square of Pegasus (Pegasus was a flying horse). One corner of the Square of Pegasus is Andromeda (daughter of Cassiopeia). The constellation Andromeda contains the Andromeda galaxy, also known as M31. The Andromeda galaxy is relatively close to the Milky Way, and is a bit larger than our own galaxy.

  4. "Arc to Arcturus." Follow the curve of the Big Dipper's handle away from the bowl to the fourth brightest star in the earth's sky, Arcturus, of the ancient constellation Boötes (pronounced "boo-oh-tees"). Boötes is a herdsman, or shepherd, and is found in cave paintings commemorating successful hunts of gazelles, zebras, and giraffes in the Sahara--this constellation was named before the Sahara became a desert. Arcturus is best seen in late summer.

  5. Continuing past Arcturus on the same curve away from the Dipper's handle. Going the same distance again as it took to reach Arcturus, you come to a bright star of the constellation Virgo called Spica (spy-ka). "Speed on to Spica!" Alternatively, the phrase "Spike to Spica" refers to Spica's usual location near the horizon. Spica lies nearly on the ecliptic--the path the Sun follows across the sky. Occasionally, Spica may have a bright visitor nearby--a planet wanderer.

  6. A line running through the two stars nearest the handle points of the Dipper go almost directly to two other notable stars. Pointing down beneath the bottom of the Dipper bowl the line takes you to Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo (a lion, whose mane looks like a backward question mark--Regulus is the "dot" at the bottom of the mark).

  7. In the other direction, pointing above the open bowl, the line runs to Deneb, in the constellation Cygnus (the Swan, which looks like a cross). Deneb is the tail of the swan, which is flying south for the winter along the Milky Way. Deneb, together with two other stars (Vega and Altair) form the summer triangle, an asterism which dominates the night sky all summer long.

  8. The second star is actually two stars, which have been called the Horse and Rider. According to the Greeks, the second star is one of the Pleiades sisters, who left her six sisters over in Taurus when she married. Mizar, the brightest of the two, resolves into a double star (A & B) in a large telescope. Interestingly, from spectroscopic evidence it is known that Mizar A and Mizar B are each double stars as well, although these pairs cannot be seen as such by our existing telescopes.

Circumpolar constellations:


In the Southern Cross concept, the 1987 Supernova in the Southern Hemisphere began a positive force in the Southern hemisphere by igniting a nearby constellation, the Southern Cross. Similarly, a 1993 supernova in the Great Bear constellation ignited a nearby constellation, Draco the Dragon, creating problems in the Northern Hemisphere, since the dragon is Satan in Biblical imagery. A pattern, in the last 15 years: positive change in the Southern hemisphere, with democracy coming to South America, and positive change in South Africa, while the Northern Hemisphere has had its problems. So, this Southern Cross idea fits the Jean Dixon idea of a cross forming above the earth.

Also mentioned in "A Gift of Prophecy" is a Jean Dixon vision on July 14, 1952. Jean saw a vision of a large snake, that was a very wise snake; its eyes were looking toward the East, with great wisdom. She felt that this snake knew all things. The snake told her that she too must look to the East for wisdom. And she felt that this snake was a bringer of peace on Earth and good will and great knowledge.

Description Bootes is a big constellation that from equator proximities stretches itself toward the northern regions, touching Ursa Major. The name Boötes comes from a Greek word meaning "noisy," referring to a herder shouting at his animals.

The brightest star of the constellation, Arcturus (from Greek, "keeper of the bear"), is the fourth star of the whole sky in order of brightness: it is an orange giant which is 36 light-years away from us. Arcturus is a star whose end is near: once it was probably similar to our Sun (and therefore, within some billion of years, also the Sun will become as Arcturus).

Arcturus sparkles like a golden-yellow topaz on clear spring and summer evenings. It was one of the first stars named and has been referred to frequently in literature both old and new. Being near Ursa Major, the Great Bear of heaven, it has been called the "Watcher," or the "Guardian." In Homer's Odyssey Boötes is referred to as "The Bear Driver," but the Arabs referred to Arcturus as "Lance Bearer" and "Keeper of Heaven," and it has also been called "Job's Star," since it is mentioned in the book of Job, chapter 38, verse 32: "Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?" This is now thought to be a bad translation: the original text probably referred to the Great Bear constellation rather than to the star Arcturus.

In the constellation of Bootes there are some interesting double stars. The best is without doubt Izar, nicknamed Pulcherrima (that is "very beautiful", in Latin): it is composed by an orange giant and by a green-blue companion; to separate them you need at least a 75-mm aperture and a high enlargement. Other doubles are: kappa Bootis, composed by two white stars; my Bootis (called Alkarulops, that is, from Arab, "shepherd's stick"), whose components rotate round each other with a 260-year period; xi Bootis, formed by a yellow star and an orange one.

Mythology and history

The constellation is identified with Arcas, son of Zeus and Callisto. Arcas was brought up by his maternal grandfather Lycaon, to whom one day Zeus went and had a meal. To verify that the guest was really the king of the gods, Lycaon prepared him a dish with the Arcas' meats. Zeus notice the deception and became very angry: he transformed Lycaon into a wolf and gave back life to his son.

In the meantime Callisto had been transformed into a she-bear, or for work of Hera, Zeus' jealous wife, or for work of Zeus himself in order to subtract her to Hera's revenge. When he was grown up, Arcas met with the she-bear and, since obviously he didn't recognize her as his mother, he began to chase her: Callisto, followed by Arcas, sheltered herself in a temple, a sacred place whose profaners were certainly convicts to death. To avoid them such fate, Zeus decided to set his son and his lover in the sky: Arcas became Bootes and Callisto was Ursa Major.

In Greek mythology Boötes, son of Demeter, goddess of agriculture, invented the plough in order to support himself by tilling the soil. He was placed in the sky, near Ursa Major, sometimes viewed as a plough, in honor of his service to mankind. For the Greeks, Ursa Major was the Great Bear of Heaven, but in China it was visualized as a wagon, in England it is a plough, for some Arabs animals in a field, and in parts of Native America hunters chasing various animals. The star Arcturus is always associated with Ursa Major, following along behind the Dipper, the Wagon, the Bear or other animals at a safe distance as if driving, herding, guarding, tending or hunting. Thus the constellation Boötes and its bright star Arcturus are shepherd of Arabian pastures in the sky, cosmic wagon master of ancient China, ploughman of celestial fields, and both guardsman and hunter of the Great Bear of Heaven. They are constant in their vigil over the most prominent stars that circle round the celestial pole.

Bright Arcturus is currently a neighbor to the Sun, only about 36 light years away, close for a star. However, it belongs to an entirely different set of stars making up the Milky Way Galaxy. Whereas the Sun moves within the plane of the Galaxy, Arcturus is part of a great spherical galactic halo, moving in an elliptical orbit. Currently it is coasting near us through the galactic plane, drawing 3 miles closer to us each second as it moves 90 miles each second through space in the direction of the constellation Virgo. It's rate of motion relative to us will diminish over the next several thousand years, then it will recede until no longer visible to the naked eye in another 500,000 years

Another interesting fact about Arcturus is that it was the first star (other than the Sun) on record to be observed during daytime. It was observed in daylight with a telescope in 1635, a feat easily duplicated today with a good amateur telescope.

Arcturus is the fourth brightest star in the sky: only Sirius, Canopus and Alpha Centauri outshine this orange giant. It is a variable star in the last stages of its life.

Arcturus takes its name from its nearness to the sky Bears, Big and Little Bears, Ursa Major, and Ursa Minor. From Arktouros or Arctophilax, "the Bear Guard" and also called "the Bear Watcher". The "Herdsman", or "driver of oxen" are other titles. Arcturus is the brightest star in the constellation of Bootes the Herdsman so it is also called Alpha Bootis. The pattern of stars in this constellation forms the shape of a kite or an ice cream cone; seeing a Herdsman driving the bears around the sky.

Arcturus is believed to be one of the first stars named by ancient observers. It is translated as "Guardian of the Bear" and is a name that was once used for the entire constellation of Bootes. It is easily found by noting that the curve of the handle of the Big Dipper is part of a circle - an arc - and we can just "follow the arc to Arcturus."

Arcturus is a giant with a diameter about 18 times our Sun's and four times as much mass. Its surface temperature is about 1500 degrees lower than Sun's but its much greater surface area results in an outpouring of energy at a rate making it 105 times as luminous as Sun.

Recent observations by the European Space Agency's Hipparcos Space Astrometry Mission have revised Arcturus's distance to 36.7 light years from us.

Arcturus has the largest "proper motion" -- motion across the sky -- of any of the bright stars except Alpha Centauri, the nearest star to our solar system. In 100 years Arcturus moves across the sky a distance equal to about half the width of your little finger held at arm's length.

At its distance of nearly 37 light years, this motion, when combined with its motion along our line of sight measured spectroscopically using the Doppler shift, yields a space velocity of about 76 miles per second with respect to our Sun. Most stars in our vicinity are moving relatively slowly with respect to Sol because of our common motion carrying us around the center of the Milky Way galaxy every 250 million years. Arcturus is in an elongated orbit around the Galaxy's center that carries it out into the Galaxy's halo.

It was formed in the halo of the Milky Way and is an interloper in our neighborhood. It has been visible to the naked eye for only about half a million years. It will be a little closer in a few thousand years, but then will recede from our view in another half million years as it continues its journey on a different orbital path.

Arcturus's great brilliance makes it possible to obtain very detailed spectra and to determine its chemical composition. Arcturus is deficient in elements such as silicon, aluminum, and iron which are formed in stars. It contains only about a fifth as much of these elements as Sun. These elements are formed inside stars, mixed into the interstellar medium as stars explode, and incorporated into subsequent generations of stars.

This chemical composition reinforces our identification of Arcturus as a member of the galactic halo. It was formed about 10 billion years ago, in a generation of star formation prior to that in which our Sun was formed, before the interstellar medium could be enriched in elements such as silicon and iron. Arcturus, about twice as old as Earth and the solar system, is the oldest thing most of us have ever seen, and is the oldest object easily visible to the naked eye.

The constellation Bootes has the shape of a kite with the bright star Arcturus at the point of the kite where the tail is attached.

Arcturus is a red supergiant star and the fourth brightest star in the whole sky.

It is visible from the northern hemisphere in the evening from about March early summer. Red-supergiant stars are precursors to super-novae, neutron stars, and black holes (so it is believed). It is approximately thirty-six light years from Earth.

According to E W Bullinger (The Witness of the Stars ), a biblical interpreter of the constellations, the ancient Egyptians called Bootes Smat, which means 'one who rules, subdues, and governs'. They also called him Bau , which means also 'the coming one'.

It was famous with the seamen of early days and as a calender sign regulated their annual festival by its movements in relation to the sun. But its influence always was dreaded, as is seen in Aratos writings. Its acronycal rising (the latest rising visible at sunset) fixed the date of the husbandmen's Lustratio frugum; and allusions were made to its character as unfavorably affecting the farmer's work; "When moist Arcturus clouds the sky". Other contemporary authors confirmed this stormy reputation, while all classical calendar's gave the dates of its risings and settings.

An Egyptian astronomical calendar of the 15th century BC, associates it with the star Antares in the immense sky figure Menat; and Lockyer claims it as one of the objects of worship in Nile temples, as it was in the temple of Venus at Ancona in Italy.

In India it was the 13th nakshatra, Svati, "the Good Goer", or perhaps "Sword", but figured as a Coral Bead, Gem, or Pearl; and known there also as Nishtya, "Outcast", possibly from its remote northern situation far outside of the zodiac, whence, from its brilliancy, it was taken to complete the series of Hindu asterisms.

The Arabs knew Arcturus as Al Simak al Ramih *, sometimes translated the "Leg of the Lance-bearer", and again, perhaps more correctly, the "Lofty Lance-bearer".

Another Arabic name; Al Haris al Sama, the "Keeper of Heaven," perhaps came from the star's early visibility in the twilight owing to its great northern declination, as though on the lookout for the safety and proper deportment of his lesser stellar companions, and so "Patriarch Mentor of the Train." This subsequently became Al Haris al Simak, "the Keeper of Simak", probably referring to Spica, "the Unarmed One".

From the Arabic title came various forms: Al Bamec, Aramec, Aremeah, Ascimec, Azimech, and Azimeth, Somech haramach, Aramakh, Kheturus.

Al Biruni mentioned Arcturus as the Second Calf of the Lion, the early Asad (Lion) in early Arabian astronomy; Spica being the First Calf.

The Greeks had a word meaning "Javelin-bearer", while Bayer had Gladius, Kolanza, and Pugio, all applied to Arcturus, which probably marked in some early drawing the "Sword", "Lance", or "Dagger" in the Hunter's (Orion) hand. Similarly it took the title Alkameluz of the whole constellation.

It has been identified with the Chaldaeans' Papsukal, "the Guardian Messenger", the divinity of their 10th month Tibitu.

On the Euphrates it was the Shepherd of the Heavenly Flock, or the Shepherd of the Life of Heaven, undoubtedly the Sib-zi-anna of the inscriptions; the star eta (Mufrid) being often included in this, and thus making one of the several pairs of Euphratean Twin Stars.

Another title was Audiens, which seems unintelligible unless the word be a misprint for Audens, the "Bold One".

With others it was Arturig and Ariture, or the Carlwaynesterre from the early confusion in applying the title Arcturus to Charles' Wain as well as to Bootes and its lucida.

Bootes is the cultivator or Ploughman who drives the Bears, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor around the Pole Star, Polaris. The bears, tied to the Polar Axis, are pulling a plough behind them, tilling the heavenly fields "in order that the rotations of the heavens should never cease".

Manilius 1st century AD writes "they will be kings under kings and ministers of state, and be charged with the guardianship of the people, custodianship of great houses and treasures, who confine their business to the care of another's home so that the wealth of monarchs and temple finances will be in their keeping".

Any type of occupation that requires planning is influenced by Bootes. These people are the driving force behind government and large corporations. They are the planners and designers, the movers and shakers, who "make the world go round". Bootes symbolizes the elder, the sage, the wise old man who is interested in principles and underlying causes, theories, ideologies, and how the past effects the future. (Conservative) politicians, economists, draftsmen, architects, designers of all kinds.

SIRIUS THE DOG STAR - THE LOST AND MISSING STAR

There appears to be a mysterious connection between the star Sirius (the brightest star in the heavens), and planet Earth. Sirius, and our own planet are gravitationally linked, even though an enormous distance separates them. They move through space spiralling around each other in a helix pattern that resembles, mathematically, the geometry of the DNA helix. Many ancient cultures marked the helical rising of Sirius ( when Sirius rises over the horizon just before the Sun) with great ceremony, and based their calendar year on it.

An African tribe named the Dogon, who live in Mali in the former French Sudan. The Dogon were in possession of information concerning the systems of the star Sirius which was so incredible that I felt impelled to research the material. The results, in 1974, seven years later, are that I have been able to show that the information which the Dogon possess is really more than five thousand years old and was possessed by the ancient Egyptians in the pre-dynastic times before 3200B.C., from which people I show that the Dogon are partially descended culturally, and probably physically as well...

In ancient cultures, it was common for the precession-caused disappearance of a constellation at equinox or solstice to be portrayed metaphorically by the death of an associated mythological figure; e.g., the death of Osiris in the Egyptian religion, was originally a description of the disappearance of Orion as a heliacal constellation, around 6700 b.c.

Through such heliacal changes, Homer has taken us back to 4400 b.c. But it is the return of Achilles, as the star Sirius, to the battlefield, which moves the astronomical calendar back to 8700 b.c. Sirius, the brightest star in the northern hemisphere, disappeared from the skies above Greece around 15,000 b.c., owing to precession. Its appearance (or reappearance, if indeed such knowledge had been handed down from an earlier, Ice Age civilization) would have been dramatic. The authors argue convincingly, that the emphasis placed on Achilles' return to the battlefield, to which Homer devotes several books, represents this singular event.

One of the most elaborate descriptions in this section of the epic, is that of the smith-god Hephaestus creating a new shield for Achilles. It is here that Homer presents us with a direct astronomical image: "He wrought the Earth, the heavens, and the sea, the Moon also at her full and the untiring Sun, with all the signs that glorify the face of Heaven--the Pleiades, the Hyads, huge Orion, and the Bear, which man also call the Wain and which turns round forever in one place, facing Orion and alone never dips into the stream Oceanus." These particular constellations mark the area of the night sky in which Sirius and its constellation, Canis Major, reappeared.

Naval chakra: The third chakra, called Manipura, or "Plenitude of Jewels," governs autonomy. Its location corresponds to the solar plexus, between the diaphragm and the naval. The totem animal of the third chakra is the ram, the steed of Agni, the fire god.

The ABDOMINAL cavity evolves from an OMPHALIC sack. In adults, the OMPHALOS is the "belly button" or the point from which the ANCHOR or NAVEL or UMBILICAL cord attaches the baby to the placenta.

Man is stated to be purer above the navel (than below); hence the Self-existent (Svayambhu) has declared the purest part of him to be his mouth.

1.   The Base Centre, The Spleen centre and the Navel centre form the Lower triangle which is the First Centre. Instincts reflections and emotions operate from this seat of Devi.

2. The Throat centre, the Brow centre and the Head centre form the Upper triangle which is the upper seat of the Devi.

The omphalos is a very common type of religious stone artifact/ tablet.

The word omphalos means "navel" in greek. According to the ancient Greeks, Zeus sent out two eagles to fly across the world and they met at its center, the "navel" of the world--which the omphalos represents. Many records indicate that the omphalos stone was the holiest object at various oracle centers in all the lands bordering the Mediterranean Sea, the most well known being at Delphi. It most likely originated from the "stone of splendor" associated with the Canaanite god Baal. The main characteristic of the omphalos/stone of splendor was its ability to allow direct communication with the gods.

A quotation from the "Purusha Sakta" of the Rig-Veda, describes the first purusha.

"Purusha has a thousand heads, a thousand eyes, a thousand feet. On every side enveloping the earth, he overpassed (it) by a space of ten fingers. Purusha himself is this whole (universe), whatever has been and whatever shall be. He is also lord of immortality, since (or when) by food he expands. All existences are a quarter of him, and three-fourths of him are that which is immortal in the sky. With three-quarter Purusha mounted upward. A quarter of him was again produced here.

From him was born Viraj; and from Viraj, Purusha.

When the gods performed a sacrifice, with Purusha as the oblation, the spring was its butter, the summer its fuel, and the autumn its (accompanying) offering. From that universal sacrifice were provided curds and butter.

From that universal sacrifice sprang the verses, the metres and the Yajush; from it sprang horses and all animals with two rows of teeth, kine, goats and sheep.

When (the gods) divided Purusha, they cut him into the following parts.

The Brahman was his mouth, the Kshtriyas was made his arms, the being (called) Vaishya was his thighs, and the Shudra sprang from his feet.

The morn sprang from his soul (manas), the sun from his eye, Indra and Agni from his mouth, and Vayu from his breath. From his naval arose the air, from his head the sky, from his feet and earth, from his ear the (four) quarters; in this manner (the gods) formed the worlds."

"(Uttering) 'bhuh', Prajapati generated this earth. (Uttering) 'bhuvah', he generated the air; and (Uttering) 'svah', he generated the sky.

This universe is co-extensive with these worlds. Saying 'bhuh', Prajapati generated the Brahman; (saying) 'bhuvah', he generated the Kshattra; (and saying) 'svah', he generated the Vis.

All this world is as much as the Brahman, Kshattra and Vis. (Saying) 'bhuh', Prajapati generated himself; (saying) 'bhuvah', he generated offspring' (saying) 'svah', he generated animals. This world is so much as self, offspring, and animals."

With some variations this is the story of the creation as told in the Puranas.

Mt. Kailash

Mt Kailash, 6714m, is also called Kang Rinpoche or ‘The precious Jewel of the Snow’. Four major religions rever this mountain. Hindus consider it as the abode of Lord Shiva. Buddhist consider it as the manifestation of Sakyamuni, the Buddha. For the Jains, this is the place of their first saint Adinath’s emancipation. For Bons, the followers of pre Buddhist religion of Tibet, their founder saint Shenrad, is said to have descended on its peak.

Mt. Kailash also known as Mt. Meru, is referred to as the navel of the earth. Four great rivers flow within a radius of 50 kms in four different directions. To the South is the sapphire face from where flows the Karnali, from the West flows the Sutlej, from the gold face on the north flows the Indus and eastwards from the crystal face flows the Brahmputra, locally known as Yarlang Sangpo.

Brahma and the creation of the world

There are several different versions of the birth of Brahma and creation in Hindu mythology. In one version Brahma was born from a lotus that was blossoming from Vishnu's navel. In another, the self existant Lord came into being to dispell darkness in the universe. He created the waters and placed a seed in them. The seed became a golden egg from which Brahma was born. He split the egg into two parts to create the heaven and the earth. He then had ten mind born sons who finished the work of creation.

In another version he separated himself into two parts, male and female, and had a child called Viraja. From Viraja came Manu. Manu in turn was the procreator of mankind.

And in the most colorful version he was alone and complete within himself. He was the only thing in exisitance. Over time he became lonely and created a consort out of his own flesh. Her name was Shatarupa, and she had the ability to change her form. Brahma became fasinated with her and wanted to posses her.

He chased Shatarupa, and of course she fled from him. It is unclear where they were running at this time, since they were supposed to be the only things in existance. Each time Brahma caught Shatarupa she would change her form. Brahma would take the male version of that form and couple with her. In this way all of the creatures in the world came into being.

In order to keep an eye on his consort, Brahma sprouted five heads. He spent all of his time watching and chasing after the devine consort. Shiva, in an attempt to help Brahma regain control, tore off one of Brahma's heads. This caused Brahma to temprarily come to his senses and he took Saraswati as his new consort. With her help, he regained control over his mind.

Brahma, the first member of the Hindu trinity though much less important than the other two, namely Vishnu and Mahesh, is manifested as the active creator of this universe. The name Brahma is not found in the Vedas and the Brahmanas, where the active creator is merely known as Golden-Embryo (HIRANYA-GARBHA) or the Lord of Progeny (PRAJA-PATI). The Mahabharata considers him as born from the embryo, which took shape in Vishnu's mind when he began to think of creation.

After the destruction of one universe Vishnu falls asleep, floating on the causal waters. When another Universe is to be created, Brahma appears on a lotus, which springs from the navel of Vishnu. Hence Brahma is also called Navel-born (NABHI-JA) or the Lotus-born (KANJA-JA).

BRAHMA - THE CREATOR

When Brahma has created the world it remains in existence for one of his days, which comes to a period of 4,320,000,000 years in terms of Hindu calendar. When Brahma goes to sleep after the end of his day, the world and all that is therein is consumed by fire. When he awakes he again restores the whole creation. This goes on till the hundred years of Brahma's life are completed. When this period ends he himself loses his existence, and he and all the gods and sages, and the whole universe are dissolved into their constituent elements.

Brahma is shown as having four heads though originally he had five. The acquiring of five heads and the subsequent loss of one head makes an interesting legend. According to myths, he originally possessed only one head. After cutting a part of his own body Brahma created a woman named SATRUPA (a face with hundred beauties). She is also called VAC or SARASWATI, SAVITRI - the solar hymn, GAYATRI - the triple hymn and SANDHYA (twilight). As soon as Brahma saw his female creation, he fell in love with her and could not remove his gaze from her extraordinary beauty. Naturally Satrupa felt shy and tried to evade his eyes by moving away on all sides. To follow her wherever she moved, Brahma created more heads-one on the left, second on the right and the third at the back of the original first. Satrupa then rose towards the sky to escape his eyes and Brahma created the fifth head on top of all the four. This way he came to have five heads.

BRAHMA - THE CHATURMUKA

(THE FOUR FACED)

It is mentioned in the scriptures that the fifth head was chopped off by Shiva. He spoke most disrespectfully about Shiva, who in anger opened his third eye and the fire burned off his fifth head. Brahma has four arms and in his hands he holds a lotus flower, his scepter, spoon, a string of beads, a bowl containing the holy water and the Vedas. He is therefore also called as CHATURANANA or CHATURMUKHA (four- faced) and ASHTA-KARNA (eight-eared). He is usually shown as a bearded man in the full maturity of age. According to Shiva Purana, from the incestual union of Brahma and Satrupa was born SUAYAMBHUVA MANU, the progenitor of man, and from him in turn all creatures.

BRAHMA - THE NABHI-JA

(THE NAVEL BORN)

Brahma

Brahma ' s vehicle is the swan or goose, the symbol of knowledge. He is therefore said to be riding on the swan (HANS-VAHANA). He is the source of all knowledge and his consort, Saraswati, is the goddess of knowledge. Brahma was the father of DAKSHA, who is said to have sprung from his thumb and Brahma personally was present at the sacrificial ceremony of that King, which was badly disturbed by Rudra. The four KUMARAS, the chief of whom was called SANAT KUMAR, were also the sons of Brahma, who were born later. He is also the creator of the beautiful AHALYA, whom he gave as wife to sage GAUTAMA. She is the same Ahalya, who was cursed by her husband to become a rock piece, because Indra, the King of heavenly spirits, seduced her. She was brought to her natural human form when Lord Rama touched the rock by his feet. After this she was reconciled to her husband.

BRAHMA IN HIS RIDE - THE SWAN

Today though Brahma's name is invoked in many religious services, his image is worshipped nowhere except at Pushkara, near Ajmer. Brahma seems to have been thrown into shade probably because in Hindu mind he has ceased to function actively after creating the world, though he will exert himself again while creating a new universe when this present one will meet its end. In fact Vishnu and Shiva, who appeal much more to popular imagination, have now arrogated his dynamic powers of creation. Understandably, the legends about this god are not so numerous and so rich as those centered round the other two of the triad.

One very plausible reason of Brahma's rather unpopularity among the devotees is his being rather callous in granting boons to the demons unguardedly. It is more than a coincidence that all the deadly demons, right from Hiranyakashipu to Ravana received their boons from Brahma, which made them singularly notorious in damaging the noble virtues of the world. Then it became necessary for Lord Vishnu to appear in his various incarnations to kill these demons. That is why the cult of Brahma's worship declined. The Hindu, later on, began to deem Brahma the sole god of worship for the demons. Hence in the entire India, there are uncountable temples to worship Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva while their third companion in the Triumvirate, Lord Brahma has only one temple, which is at the Pushkar Lake in Ajmer.

Brahma's day: Brahma lives hundred years, but they are years of Brahma, not human years. One KALPA coincides with one Day of Brahma's life, and when the night will come, this Universe will be reabsorbed (PRALAYA) in his divine sleep. One KALPA (Day or Night of Brahma) corresponds to 4,320,000,000 earthly years. Earthly time is divided in YUGA or Ages, which are: KRITA (OR SATYA)-YUGA 4,800 years

TRETA-YUGA 3,600 years

DWAPARA-YUGA 2,400 years

KALI-YUGA 1,200 years

TOTAL 12,000 years

Each Yuga's length, decrease progressively in relation to moral and physical decadence in each age. Throughout the SATYA Yuga virtue prevails and evil is unknown; in the TRETA Yuga virtue falls by a fourth; in the DWAPARA Yuga virtue has diminished by half; in the KALI Yuga, the current age, only a fourth of virtue remains. The fours Yuga make one MAHAYUGA. 360 must multiply the Mahayuga's 12,000 years, the days of the human year.

Every Kalpa has 1000 cycles of four Yuga.

Serpent Creation

The World Navel is a term coined by Joseph Campbell, famed author and mythology scholar. Campbell used the term to describe the proverbial "center of the universe" evident in folklore and, more particularly, the archetypal hero story. As Campbell himself put it, "The tree of life, i.e., the universe itself, grows from this point. It is rooted in the supporting darkness; the golden sunbird perches on its peak; a spring, the inexhaustable well, bubbles at its foot....the World Navel is the symbol of the continuous creation: the mystery of the maintennance of the world through that continuous miracle of vivification which wells within all things."

GAIA & DAPHNE

Gaia was the ancient Mother Earth of the Greeks, "the Deep-Breasted One". Born from Chaos, she existed long before time and created her consort as well as their children, one of whom was Rhea. Rhea created Python who coiled around the omphalos (navel) at Delphi, guarding the sacred divinatory Castalian spring and sharing oracular knowledge with Gaia's priestesses there, the Pythia. When one of her priestesses, Daphne, was being pursued by Apollo, Gaia changed her into a laurel tree so she could escape from him. This myth, as well as that of Apollo slaying Python, tells the story of the patriarchal takeover of the Oracle at Delphi which was once sacred to Gaia but, in later years, was claimed by Apollo. The laurel wreath was once considered a magical charm against evil but, after patriarchy, was used as a victory symbol to crown warriors and artists and was also worn by Apollo. The spirit figure emerging from the spirit earth in the upper right corner is Gaia, after her depiction on the Pergamon Altar, Greek, 165-156 BCE. Her gesture is part of the spirit energy changing Daphne into the laurel tree. Gaia's snake earring is after a Greek bracelet from Avola, 330-300 BCE.

The Dogon creation myth is hugely complex, but for the relevance of this paper, can be summarised as follows. Heaven, which is also regarded by the Dogon as the creator, is called Amma. The stars represent the various bodily parts of Amma, while the constellation of Orion is called amma bolo boy tolo, "the seat of Heaven", or "Amma's navel". Amma split in two, creating Ogo, who represents disorder. Ogo descended to Earth in an ark, along the Milky Way which connects Heaven and Earth through a form of bridge, and he created havoc on Earth. Amma then decided to create an representative of order, called Nommo, and also created for him 8 assistants, comprising of 4 couples of twins. These 8 were called the ancestors of human beings, and they too descended to Earth in an ark, also created by Amma. The ark was suspended from Heaven by a copper chain, which allowed the ark to float down to Earth, like the Sun traverses the sky and settles in the west. As a matter of interest, the Dogon construct a representation of the ark which is left in every home for ritual purposes; it is woven from dry leaves into a boat shaped basket.

Shamanism Worldview

The Universe

The classic worldview of shamanism is found among the peoples of northern Asia. In their view the universe is full of heavenly bodies peopled by spiritual beings. Their own world is disk-shaped--saucerlike--with an opening in the middle leading into the Netherworld; the Upper World stands over the Central World, or Earth, this world having a manyfold vault. The Earth, or Central World, stands in water held on the back of a colossal monster that may be a turtle, a huge fish, a bull, or a mammoth. The movement of this animal causes earthquakes. The Earth is surrounded by an immense belt. It is connected with the Upper World by the Pillar of the World. The Upper World consists of several strata--3, 7, 9, or 17. On the navel of the Earth stands the Cosmic Tree, which reaches up to the dwelling of the upper gods.

From the very earliest epochs of mankind, caves have been considered throughout the world as special places in space and time, as shrines and cult places also of curing. Later caves were replaced by artificial crypts and constructions above the ground such as hallow tents, huts, houses, temples, churches or the domes of stalactites of the mosques.

Space and time were believed to be generated in caves. Rock pictures depicted the creatures inhabiting this world-cave. The arch of the subterranean rock ceiling, especially the natural domes of the caves, represents the curve of the sky and the floor of the cave the earth. Heavenly figures are recorded on the ceilings, earthly ones on the ground. The shape of the underground spaces copies or replicates the structures of the cosmos, particularly the apertures, passages, chambers, dripstones and watercourses within the cave. Rock figures and rock pictures of objects, plants, animals, and sometimes human beings, frequently refer to astronomical elements indicating places and movements in space and time. These include for example directions, the plumbing rule, the centre, the cosmic axis, the points of solstices and equinoxes, the course of moon and sun, the stars and constellations, the Milky Way and occasionally other phenomena too such as eclipses, meteor showers or comets. Through caves is was possible to enter alternate worlds, caves functioned as a kind of door. There the inner forces of nature were to be found. Creatures belonging to the different levels of the cosmos assembled in such power-caves. Shamans visited caves to learn more about the forces and structures of nature and to acquire strength through contact with ancestral heavenly spirits. They drew the phenomena and proceedings of the cosmos, an archaic cosmography, onto the rocks. The cave reflected all spatiotemporal attributes of the universe. There the navel of the world, often symbolised by a stalagmite-stalactite-pillar, was to be found. The topography of the subterranean rooms indicates important points, directions, lines, circles and dates of the cosmic structure.

Caves were at the same time a place of birth, of death and rebirth, the uterus of the cosmos, of all the things and creatures to be found in it. A cave was a place of cosmogony, and especially of the genesis of living beings. The depths of the grotto contained the creative inner forces of nature, the elements earth, water, air, fire. The cave resembled the female sexual organs, primarily the uterus. All living beings, plants, animals and people, as well as crystals and metals, werecontinuously generated in the embryonic archetypal state of the dark womb of the cosmic mother earth. After death or destruction they were returned to the cave or mother earth before undergoing a new transformation. The caves therefore were not only places of generation and birth but also of dying and death, of renewal and rebirth, of heavenly and earthly nature in the course of the year. The first celestial bodies, objects, plants, animals and people were all created in the darkness of the “birth caves”. These archetypes (totems) originated in/emerged from the subterranean rock spaces. According to ancient belief, these powerful creatures even created themselves the rock art by penetrating the rocks, leaving behind a lasting “impression” - the rock pictures on the walls as symbols of their powers. Finally they emerged through an opening in the rocks from the darkness of the grottoes into light of the surface of the earth and fashioned the creatures, using themselves as prototypes. Shamans often acted as their obstetricians.

According to ancient belief, caves opened paths to other realities of the cosmos. Different spaces and times were connected in a multidimensional construct at their place. The centre of the world, the entrances, passages and outlets in the lower, middle and upper worlds could be found in the grottoes. Difficult and dangerous passages connected the different spatiotemporal worlds.

Shamans therefore entered the caves to undertake journeys to different spheres of the space and to learn more about these. This journey led the shaman to all parts of the cosmos. They recorded the henomena and proceedings, which they had observed and recognised as shamanistic and totemistic cosmography in rock-pictures within and outside the caves. In the grottoes shamans beleived they would find spirit helpers in the shape of animals which would help them to accomplish their journey through the cosmic spaces and times safely.

Caves were also places where psychosomatic disorders were cured as well as centres of cosmic theory (in the sense too of the original meaning of the Greek word ”theoria” as ”vision”). They were locations of inner and outer experience.

For these reasons the Lascaux scene was believed to depict Palaeolithic shamanistic cosmography. I believe however that this now has been proved. In the course of my studies for a doctoral thesis, I was able to find more than 2,500 notes to substantiate this theory. Examples include symbols, myths and rites from all cultures around the world. Because of the limited time available however, it will only be possible for me to give a broad outline of the results. If anyone is interested in following these arguments in more detail, then I would ask them to please look at the the doctoral thesis.

The key to deciphering the rock panel are the bird-stick and the bird-man. These figures share certain similarities but also display crucial differences. To ”read” the pictures, it is necessary to split the images into their elements, in one case the bird and the stick, in the other, the bird and the human body. By drawing on myths and symbols of people all over the world, particularly shamanistic ones, it is possible to ascertain the meaning of the figures, which in fact represent ideograms. Ascending and flying Birds symbolise the wide spaces of the air and the sky as well as the celestial bodies – the sun, the moon, the stars and constellations moving in these upper regions. The Birds are able to reach the highest points in the sky, the zenith and the pole, and to hover there. They were therefore seen as the animal lords of these heavenly places and regions.

Pele

The Hawaiian (Polynesian) goddess of the fire in the volcano, the mother of eruptions. She is a ravishing, whimsical goddess who resides in the volcano Kilauea on Hawaii. Daughter of the goddess Haumea. She is the personification of the (female) power of destruction and her jealous rages were believed to cause Kilauea's eruptions. Pele also controls lightning. Her favorite sister is Hi'iaka (or Hi'iaka i ka poli o Pele), the patroness of hula dancers.

Pele was born in Honua-Mea, part of Tahiti. Because of her eruptive temper, her father Kane Milohai exiled her from their home island. She was given a canoe and traveled north in search of an auspicious island in which to make her home. She visited many islands but whenever she started digging, thinking to make the foundations of her new house, the place appeared to be unsatisfactory for some reason or other. The pits she dug can still be seen, as immense craters, relics of extinct volcanoes now filled with water. Finally she arrived on Hawaii, where she created Mount Kilauea, her new home. Pele became very happy there because it was the Navel of the World, Ka Piko o ka Honua. There, the gods began Creation.

Pele appears in many forms, such as a young child, a beautiful young girl or an old crone. She usually wears black.

Yoruba, Nigeria and Benin

In Yoruba mythology the city of Ile -Ife is “the navel of the world,” the place where creation took place and the tradition of kingship began. There it was that the gods Oduduwa and Obatala descended from the heaven to create earth and its inhabitants. Oduduwa himself became the first ruler, oni, of Ile-Ife. Both the bronze and terracotta pieces belong to a series that has been interpreted by some specialists as idealized portraits, and occasionally a bust or a head has been identified as that of an oni or a dignitary. The bronze heads, half-figures, and figures in the Ife style have been produced since 12th century. This oni head was apparently cast at 20th century.

AZTEC CREATION:

The earth was thought of as a personification of chaos or unstructured matter called Cipactli, a monstrous alligator, or shark who lived in the ocean. Cipactli was bisexual and quite alone. Often considered a type of dragon considered female and known as Tlalteuctli, "Earth Lady". Often Tlalteuctli was considered as a giant toad with many mouths each dripping blood. Legend has it that in the beginning Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca assumed the shape of snakes and squeezed Cipactli into two parts. The top part they made into the sky and the lower part became the earth. There are other similar legends such as entering Cipactli by the mouth and navel, but the essence of the story is the same. Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca then placed great trees at the corners of the earth to hold up the sky. From the skin of Cipactli flowers and grasses were formed, from her eyes, springs, from her mouth, rivers, from her nose, valleys, and from her shoulders, the great mountains of Mexico. There are many creation myths, this is but one. Other myths concern creation by blood sacrifice and creation by theistic design or a divine mind.

The Enclosed Sun Cross

David Talbot (The Saturn Myth, Doubleday, NY, 1980) notes in Chapter 6 The Enclosed Sun Cross, the sign as occurring in many nations from Egypt through the Middle East to India and China; from Crete to Scandinavia; from Alaska to South America.

The enclosed sun cross appears to represent the four rivers of paradise. The Bible refers to this as the river which went out from Eden and parted into four heads. Tradition has it that the four rivers flowed in opposite directions. The tradition is found among the Navaho Indian narration of the Age of Beginnings. This tradition is also found in the story of the Chinese Paradise of Kwen-lun. The four rivers also appear in the Hindu Rig Veda, and the Vishnu Purana identifies the four streams as the paradise of Brahma at the world summit. They, too, flow in four directions (Talbot, ibid.). This story is found among the Iranian myths concerning the central font of Ardi Sura, and is the Sea of Life of the Siberian Kalmuks. The Mandaeans of Iraq maintain the same tradition as Genesis; as the Babylonians also spoke of the Land of the Four Rivers.

The home of the Greek goddess Calypso, in the navel of the sea, also had the central fountain from which four streams emanated in opposite directions.

The Scandinavian Edda speaks of the origin of the world’s waters in the spring Hvergelmir in the land of the gods. The Slavs had them originate from the magic stone Alatuir in the island paradise of Bonyan. Talbot notes that Brinton finds the four mystic rivers among the Sioux, Aztecs and Maya as Fornander discovered them in Polynesian myth (Talbot, p. 121).

Few, if any, of the nations possessing the memory can point to any geographical source of the imagery. Thus, when the Babylonians invoke Ishtar as Lady, Queen of the land of the Four Rivers of Erech, or when the Egyptian text at Dendera celebrate the four Niles at Elephantine, the imagery is of an ancient mythology with no actual reality in the geography surrounding them. Talbot holds that the reason for the disparity between the mythical and terrestrial landscapes is that the four rivers flowed, not on our earth, but through the four quarters of the polar "homeland" (Talbot, p. 121). Talbot (ibid.) holds that for every dominant myth there are corresponding signs. The sign of the four rivers is the sun cross and the enclosed sun cross,

the latter sign illuminating the former by showing that the four streams belong to the primeval enclosure. Issuing from the polar center (i.e., the central sun), the four rivers flow to the four corners of Saturn’s Earth (emphasis added).

Thus, the concept embodied in the Genesis story (Gen. 2:10), whilst having a specific geography attributed to the four rivers, also represents a basic theme of the rivers of living water which flowed from the central source which was God through His morning star which at that time was Satan.

Thus, the central source which supplied the lands of Africa as well as the Tigris and Euphrates had a spiritual significance which has been attributed to the Babylonian religious system down to Ishtar and on to the Egyptians as well as throughout the world via shamanism as it was developed from the central system. The Babylonian system was, in essence, Animism (see Budge Babylonian Life and History, 2nd ed., London, 1925).

Thus to the ancients, the four corners of the world had a specific cosmological meaning which referred not to geography but to the map of the celestial kingdom. Talbot quotes O’Neill as one of the few scholars to recognise this quality of the mythical "four corners".

It results from any full study of the myths symbolism and nomenclature of the Four Quarters that these directions were viewed in the strict orthodoxy of heavens mythology, not as the NSEW of every spot whatever, but four heaven-divisions spread out around the "pole".

The sun-cross ... as the symbol of the four quarters, belongs to the central sun. In sacred cosmography the central position of the sun god often becomes the "fifth" direction. To understand such language, it is convenient to think of the mythical "directions" (or arms of the cross) as motions or flows of energy. From the great god the elements of life flow in four directions. The god himself, who embodies all the elements, is "firm," "steadfast," or "resting"; his fifth motion is that of rotation while standing in one place.

The "directions" can also be conceived as regions: the central (fifth) region and the four quarters spaced around it.

This is why the Pythagoreans regarded the number five as a representative of the fixed world axis. The Pythagorean idea clearly corresponds with the older Hindu symbolism of the directions. In addition to the standard four directions, Hindu doctrine knows a fifth, called the "fixed direction" the polar center (Talbot, pp. 122-123).

Talbot also identifies this idea with China and also in Mexican Nahuatl symbolism with five as the number of the centre (ibid.).

Thus, we are dealing with a very serious form of idolatry in the symbolism of the cross as a representation here of sun worship.

It must also be recalled that this process of the four divisions of the celestial system is represented not only by the division of Israel into the four groups of three tribes around the tabernacle as typified by Numbers 10. It must also be understood that the very symbols used to denote these tribes, such as the Bull (of Ephraim), the Lion (of Judah), the Serpent/Eagle (of Dan) and the Aquarian Man of Reuben, are themselves representative of the divisional symbols of the Covering Cherubs of God’s Government, represented in Revelation 4:7-9. These Lion-headed, Bull-headed, Eagle-headed and Man-headed creatures are the four archangels, the Seraphim or Covering Cherubs of God’s Government. Thus, by the appropriation of the symbolism to sun worship, we are seeking to transfer the centrality of the authority of God the Father to the Man-headed Cherub who was Azazel, now Satan. The sun cross is, thus, the symbol of the rebellion. This cross symbolism is then transferred into various aspects of idolatry and is then imported into Christianity with further idolatrous consequence.

Spitzer Watches Wild Weather On A Star-Skimming Planet

What would happen if, for a single day, the sun's light and heat were amplified a thousand times? While this sounds like the setup for a classic tale of science fiction, astronomers know of one planet that experiences just such a climate extreme. Now, thanks to NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope

, scientists have measured how this planet's atmosphere responds to a super-summer day.

The planet in question orbits a sun-like star catalogued as HD 80606. Part of a binary system, the star is joined in space by a near-twin called HD 80607. These siblings aren't particularly close - they're separated by about 125 times the distance between Saturn and our sun.

The stellar couple lies 190 light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major where, tucked between the Greater Bear's front legs, they can be seen through binoculars.

HD 80606b was discovered in 2001 by a Swiss planet-hunting team led by Dominique Naef of the Geneva Observatory, Switzerland. It's a gas giant planet - much like Jupiter in our own solar system but about four times more massive.

What makes HD 80606b unique is its orbit - the most elongated yet found, almost as lopsided as the orbit of Comet Halley in our own solar system.

Like Halley, HD 80606b spends most of its time far from its star and then, at closest approach, dramatically whips around it.

"There are several other planets with very high eccentricities, but HD 80606b has the highest known," says Greg Laughlin of Lick Observatory, University of California at Santa Cruz. He's the lead author of the study, which appears this week in the science journal Nature.

Every 111 days, HD 80606b shuttles between 79 million miles from its star - equivalent to midway between Venus and Earth in our solar system - to just 2.8 million miles away. That's nearly 13 times closer then Mercury's average distance to the sun - and less than four times the diameter of HD 80606.

At the farthest part of its orbit, HD 80606b receives a little less than the intensity of solar energy Earth receives from the sun. But in the 30 hours bracketing the planet's wild swing through closest approach, the energy HD 80606b receives from its star spikes by nearly 830 times.

Laughlin and his colleagues observed HD 80606b before, during and just after its closest passage to the star on Nov. 20, 2007. The Spitzer team didn't know whether the planet would disappear completely behind the star.

Measurements made with the planet constantly in view could provide the temperature change, but not the actual temperatures. In fact, HD 80606b did pass behind its star. The Spitzer measurements show that, over the course of six hours, the planet's temperature rose from 980 to 2,240 degrees Fahrenheit.

Tides lock the rotation of most "hot Jupiters" to their orbital period. This means they keep the same side facing the star, which makes it impossible for astronomers to observe the hot spot. But because of its odd orbit, HD 80606b hasn't become tidally locked.

It rotates on its axis every 34 hours. "The planet is spinning at a fast enough rate for the planet's hot spot to come into view," says co-author Drake Deming of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. "The hot spot can't hide."

"We watched the development of one of the fiercest storms in the galaxy," Laughlin says.

"This is the first time that we've detected weather changes in real time on a planet outside our solar system."

The team used the data to model how heat flows through the planet's atmosphere - the first time such information has been available for a planet orbiting another star. HD 80606b heats up and cools down fast.

This indicates that the stellar energy intercepted by the planet is being absorbed fairly high up in the atmosphere, where the air is relatively thin.

Because the scientists detected the planet's disappearance behind the star, there's a 15 percent chance that HD 80606b will pass in front of - or transit - the star from our viewing angle. The next possibility of detecting HD 80606b in transit falls on Feb. 14.

The event could last up to 17 hours and would provide much additional information on the nature of this peculiar world.
